Image forming apparatus and non-transitory computer readable medium for processing an instruction to use a borderless printing function
An image forming apparatus is provided. Upon receiving a borderless printing instruction, the image forming apparatus performs cleaning processing according to a sheet size. The cleaning processing is different from cleaning processing to be performed when a border printing instruction is received.
MEDIA SIZE DETECTOR
In one example, a media size detector includes a button coupled to a spring of a housing to interact with a media size adjuster of a media tray, a first side of a lever to receive pressure from the spring when the button is depressed by the media size adjuster, and a second side of the lever to apply pressure to activate or deactivate a switch coupled to a printed circuit assembly when the first side of the lever receives pressure from the spring.
Detecting size of print medium using sensors available along paper path
An image forming apparatus includes a load detection sensor located on a feeder to detect whether a print medium is loaded on the feeder, an overload detection sensor to detect an overload state of a discharger, and a controller to detect a width of the print medium according to a combination of a feeder load state of a feeder load detection signal of the load detection sensor and an overload state of a discharger overload detection signal of the overload detection sensor and control an image former to perform printing by applying different print modes according to the detected width of the print medium.
Image forming system and method of controlling image forming system
An image forming system operable to perform image formation on a sheet includes a storage for storing a sheet, a conveyor configured to convey a sheet along a conveyance path a sheet size setter configured to set a size of the sheet stored in the storage, a sheet size detector configured to detect a size of the sheet conveyed by the conveyor, at least one memory that stores at least one program, and at least one processor. The at least one program causes the at least one processor to perform obtaining a difference between the size set by the sheet size setter and the size detected by the sheet size detector, and controlling image formation, wherein when the difference is greater than a first reference value, the processor interrupts image formation, and when the difference is less than or equal to the first reference value and greater than a second reference value, which is smaller than the first reference value, the processor notifies a warning without interrupting image formation.
SENSOR DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sensor device includes a light emitter, a photodetector configured to receive, during a first state where no paper exists, irradiated light from the light emitter, and to receive, during a second state where a paper exists, transmitted light from the paper, an amplifier circuit configured to convert an output of the photodetector into a voltage, a storage circuit configured to hold an output voltage, during the first state, from the amplifier circuit, and an AD converter configured to set an output voltage of the storage circuit as a reference voltage, and to convert, into a digital value, a voltage ratio between the reference voltage and an output voltage, during the second state, of the amplifier circuit. Based on an output from the AD converter, a paper thickness is detected.
IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD
An image forming apparatus detects an attribute of paper for each sheet of paper. A post-process apparatus performs a post-process for each group of paper including a designated number of sheets of paper. A controller of the image forming apparatus determines for each sheet of paper, whether or not a designated post-process is prohibited based on prohibition rule data which defines permission and prohibition of the post-process in accordance with the attribute of paper for each type of post-process and the detected attribute of paper. When the controller determines that the designated post-process is prohibited, the controller determines whether or not a sheet of paper which resulted in determination as prohibition is a sheet of paper intermediate between the first sheet of paper and the last sheet of paper in the group of paper, and has an image forming system perform a process in accordance with a result of determination.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME, AND STORAGE MEDIUM THAT SELECT, FROM AMONG A PLURALITY OF PAPER FEED SOURCES, ONE THAT SATISFIES A SELECTED CONDITION
An image forming apparatus forms an image designated by a job on a sheet fed from one of a plurality of paper feed sources. A detection unit detects paper types of sheets respectively fed from the plurality of paper feed sources, and is provided on a conveyance path. A memory device stores a set of instructions, and at least one processor executes the instructions to function as a first holding unit to hold paper sizes and paper types set by a user in one-to-one correspondence with the plurality of paper feed sources, a second holding unit to hold the paper types detected by the detection unit in one-to-one correspondence with the plurality of paper feed sources, and a third holding unit to hold a paper size designated by the job and a paper type designated by the job or a condition related to setting of a paper type.
Sheet conveyance device and program for sheet conveyance device
A sheet conveying apparatus of an embodiment includes a conveyance path along which a sheet can be conveyed, and a plurality of conveyance rollers configured to move a sheet along the conveyance path. A wireless tag reader/writer is configured to read information from, and write information to, a wireless tag of a sheet on the conveyance path. A controller is configured to detect a phase change in response waves received by the wireless tag reader/writer from a wireless tag. The controller is also configured to identify whether a wireless tag is moving along the conveyance path based on the detected phase change in response waves from the wireless tag. The controller controls the wireless tag reader/writer to write information to the wireless tag identified as moving along the conveyance path.
SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE READING DEVICE
A sheet conveying device includes a length sensor configured to detect a length of a sheet to be conveyed, and a processor configured to determine the length of the sheet while operating in a first mode and while operating in a second mode. While operating in the first mode, the processor determines the length detected by the length sensor as the length of the sheet. While operating in the second mode, the processor determines a predefined length as the length of the sheet, wherein the predefined length is greater than a shortest length detectable by the length sensor.
PRINTING APPARATUS AND PRINTING METHOD
A printing apparatus having a copying function includes a document feeder that feeds a document, an image reading section that scans the document fed from the document feeder and generates image data of the document, a printing section that performs printing on paper in accordance with the image data, and a controller. The controller performs an avoidance process of avoiding performing the printing in which a size of a sheet of the document and a size of the paper do not match against an intention of a user, in a case where a setting is made in which the document, on which single-sided printing is performed, is printed on both sides of the paper to perform double-sided printing, and the document includes sheets having different sizes and includes an odd number of successive sheets with an identical size.
