An image forming apparatus includes an image forming station for forming a toner image on a sheet; a heating roller and a pressing roller which form a nip for fixing the toner image on the sheet; a heat absorption roller for absorbing heat by contacting the pressing roller; a moving mechanism for moving the heat absorption roller to and away from the pressing roller; a detector for detecting an abnormal state that heat absorption roller remains contacted the pressing roller; and a controller for controlling an interval between adjacent sheets when image forming operation is continuously carried out for a plurality of sheets, wherein when the detector does not detect the abnormal state, the controller supplies the sheets at a first feeding interval, and when the detector detects the abnormal state, the controller supplies of the sheets at a second feeding interval longer than the first interval.

MEDIA DESKEW USING VARIABLE BUCKLE BASED ON PRINTING CHARACTERISTIC

A media path moves media sheets from a media supply, a print engine receives the media sheets from the media path, and a sensor detects a characteristic related to the media sheets. A drive nip continuously moves the media sheets, and a stall nip receives the media sheets from the drive nip. The stall nip is positioned less than the length of one of the media sheets from the drive nip. The stall nip alternately stops or moves the media sheets while the drive nip continuously moves the media sheets, as controlled by a controller, to cause the media sheets to buckle between the drive nip and the stall nip. The controller controls when to stop or move the media sheets to constantly vary the size of the buckle, and thereby make the buckle relatively larger for a first characteristic and make the buckle relatively smaller for a different characteristic.

A post-processing apparatus includes a post processer, a conveyor, a surface detector, an air blower, and a switch. The post processer performs post processing on a medium. The conveyor conveys the medium. The surface detector detects a surface of the medium. The air blower blows air toward the surface of the medium. The air blower includes an air blowing fan, multiple air blower ports, and an air duct. The air blowing fan generates airflow. The multiple air blower ports blow air to the medium. The air duct couples the air blowing fan and the multiple air blower ports to guide the air from the air blowing fan to each of the air blower ports. The switch controls the amount of the air blown from each of the multiple air blower ports to the medium based on a detection of the surface of the medium by the surface detector.

IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

An image forming system includes a transport unit that transports a recording medium by using a roller; a transfer unit that applies a transfer voltage by using a transfer body and that transfers a toner image to the recording medium that is transported by the transport unit; a fixing unit that fixes the toner image by using a heat roller to the recording medium to which the toner image is transferred; and a processor configured to: implement temperature control on the heat roller, based on a result of detection of an electric current value detector that detects an electric current value of an electric actuator that rotates the roller and a result of detection of a resistance value detector that detects volume resistivity of the recording medium when the toner image is transferred to the recording medium after the electric current value detector detects the electric current value.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus according to an embodiment includes a first image forming unit that forms an image on a sheet using a decolorable color material for a decolorable image forming job. A second image forming unit forms an image on a sheet using a non-decolorable color material for a non-decolorable image forming job. A heat source heats the sheet at a control temperature according to a job type. A storage unit includes a job queue that registers jobs in a received order. When a plurality of jobs that differ in the control temperature are registered in the job queue, a controller that changes an execution order of the jobs in the job queue into the ascending order of the control temperature of the heat source, and executes the jobs registered in the job queue according to the changed order.
