Where a pressing force pressing the developing member against the image bearing member is F1, a total number of the carrier particles interposed between the toner particles and the image bearing member is N1, and an adhesion Ft between a carrier particle and a toner particle, measured when the carrier particle is pressed against the toner particle with F1/N1 that is a pressing force per unit carrier particle, and an adhesion Fdr1 between the carrier particle and the image bearing member, measured when the carrier particle is pressed against the image bearing member with F1/N1, satisfy Ft?Fdr1.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus according to an embodiment includes an image bearing body, a developing roller, a housing, and a gap adjusting member. The image bearing body includes a first rotating shaft and includes a first surface on which a latent image is formed. The developing roller includes a second rotating shaft, includes a second surface, includes a bearing, and supplies a developer to the latent image and develops the latent image. The housing rotatably supports the second rotating shaft. The gap adjusting member includes a shaft hole for rotatably receiving one end of the first rotating shaft and includes a cam surface. The gap adjusting member is turned around the first rotating shaft and is fixed to the housing in a turning position where a gap is uniform in a direction of the second rotating shaft of the developing roller.
Powder conveying device and image forming apparatus incorporating same
A powder conveying device includes a first conveyor, a first conveyance passage, a fall passage, a second conveyor, and a second conveyance passage. The first conveyor conveys powder in a substantially horizontal direction and is disposed in the first conveyance passage. The powder output from an outlet port of the first conveyance passage is to fall in the fall passage. The second conveyor conveys the powder in the substantially horizontal direction and is disposed in the second conveyance passage that has an inlet port to receive the powder falling in the fall passage. When viewed in a cross section orthogonal to a powder conveyance direction, a cross-sectional area of a space that is not occupied by the first conveyor in the first conveyance passage is larger than a cross-sectional area of a space that is not occupied by the second conveyor in the second conveyance passage.
TONER PACKAGE COMPRISING ACTIVATED CARBON
A toner package includes activated carbon and a toner composition. The toner composition includes toner particles and toner particle surface additives disposed on the toner particles. An amount of activated carbon present in the toner package is sufficient to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
EMULSION AGGREGATION TONER COMPRISING BRANCHED WAX
An emulsion aggregation (EA) toner particle for use in a xerographic apparatus having an oiled fusing system, the EA toner particle including a core including a resin, a branched ester wax having substantially no solubility in fuser oil, a coagulant, and an optional colorant. Such toners may be part of a toner composition and are useful in printing procedures such as image-on-image printing.
Magnetic carrier, two-component developer, replenishing developer, and image forming method
Provided is a magnetic carrier comprising a magnetic carrier particle having a magnetic body-dispersed resin carrier core material and a resin coating layer; the core material includes magnetic particles A and B having number average primary particle diameter of ra and rb (m), respectively, satisfying rarb; the particles A each include an oxide of at least one nonferrous metal of Mn, Al, Mg, Ti, and Ni; and an iron oxide; M1 represents total content of the nonferrous metal and F1 represents content of an iron of the magnetic carrier particle measured by XRF diffraction, M1/F1 is 0.010 to 0.100; M2 represents total content of the nonferrous metal and F2 represents content of an iron is F2 of the magnetic carrier particle measured by XPS, M2/F2 is 1.0 to 10.0.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member and a rotatable developer bearing member. The image bearing member, configured to carry a toner image, includes first recess portions provided at intervals substantially equal to a first pitch Pdr (mm) in a rotation direction of the image bearing member. The developer bearing member, configured to carry developer comprising toner and carrier and to form the toner image on the image bearing member, includes second recess portions provided at intervals substantially equal to a second pitch Ps (mm) in a rotation direction of the developer bearing member. The following relationship is satisfied
Vs/Vdr<Ws/Pdr where Vdr represents a movement speed (mm/sec) of the first recess portions, Vs represents a movement speed (mm/sec) of the second recess portions, and Ws represents a length (mm) of each of the second recess portions in the rotation direction of the developer bearing member.
Toner, toner container, developing unit, and image forming apparatus
A toner includes an external additive particle that is a complex oxide containing a titanium dioxide (TiO.sub.2) and a silicon dioxide (SiO.sub.2). A detection amount of titanium (Ti) detected through an elementary analysis based on energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry is equal to or higher than about 0.590 percent by weight and equal to or lower than about 0.967 percent by weight.
Developing device that reduces the bending of a developer regulating member when the developer regulating member receives developer pressure or magnetic force
Warpage of a developer regulating member formed of a magnetic material and unrotatably supported on only both end portions thereof caused when receiving pressure of developer or magnetic force is suppressed. In a cross section of the developer regulating member orthogonal to a rotational axis of the developer beading member, an area of the cross section of the developer regulating member is smaller than 28 mm.sup.2, a magnitude of a normal direction component of a second moment of area of the developer regulating member with respect to a centroid of the cross section is larger than 25 mm.sup.4, and a magnitude of a tangent direction component of the second moment of area is larger than 70 mm.sup.4. The normal direction component and the tangent direction component are respectively components in the normal direction and the tangent direction of the developer bearing member.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS THAT DISCHARGES DEVELOPER
An image forming apparatus includes a controller configured to control a first image forming unit such that while a plurality of images are being sequentially formed, a first pattern image is formed in a first sheet-to-sheet area between a first black image and a second black image among the plurality of images on a first photosensitive body, and control the second image forming unit such that while the plurality of images is being sequentially formed, a second pattern image are formed in a second sheet-to-sheet area between a first color image and a second color image among the plurality of images on a second photosensitive body.
