A heating device includes a conveying unit, a heating unit, a temperature detecting unit and a controller. The conveying unit conveys a recording material. The heating unit includes a plurality of heat sources which are disposed so that locations thereof are different from each other in a conveying direction of the recording material, and heats the convey ed recording material. The temperature detecting unit is positioned on an upstream side in the conveying direction of the recording material with respect to the plurality of heat sources, and detects a temperature of the heating unit. The controller controls one of the plurality of heat sources based on a detecting result obtained by the temperature detecting unit. The one of the plurality of heat sources is positioned on the upstream side in the conveying direction of the recording material.

A fixing apparatus includes a fixing belt, a steering roller, a pressure rotation member, and a contact-separation mechanism. The contact-separation mechanism moves the pressure rotation member to a position where the pressure rotation member is in a contact state with the fixing belt and a position where the pressure rotation member is in a separated state from the fixing belt. Swing of the steering roller is controlled so that the fixing belt moves to a predetermined position in a fixing belt width direction. A distance between a center position of the fixing belt in tilting the steering roller for a first time after the center position is separated from a center position of a range of movement of the fixing belt and the center position of the range of movement of the fixing belt in the width direction is smaller in the separated state than in the contact state.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a heater, heating roller heated by the heater and a fixing belt heated by the heating roller. A thermistor detects a temperature of the fixing belt at an area where the belt is stretched by the heating roller. When a CPU receives a signal which instructs the stop of rotation of the fixing belt, the CPU continues rotation of the fixing belt until the detected temperature detected by the thermistor decreases a predetermined temperature in a case in which the detected temperature is higher than the predetermined temperature.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

An image forming apparatus includes a heater, heating roller heated by the heater and a fixing belt heated by the heating roller. A thermistor detects a temperature of the fixing belt at an area where the belt is stretched by the heating roller. When a CPU receives a signal which instructs the stop of rotation of the fixing belt, the CPU continues rotation of the fixing belt until the detected temperature detected by the thermistor decreases a predetermined temperature in a case in which the detected temperature is higher than the predetermined temperature.

Fuser including rotatable member and endless belt

A fuser is described including a heater, a belt, a rotating member, and a pad. A nip portion is formed between the belt and the rotating member as the pad presses the belt toward the rotating member. The pad is biased toward a restricting member. The biasing may be performed by one or more springs. The spring may be a compression spring, a tension spring, and/or a plate spring among other types of springs.
