EXPANDABLE FUSION DEVICE AND METHOD OF INSTALLATION THEREOF
The present invention provides an expandable fusion device capable of being installed inside an intervertebral disc space to maintain normal disc spacing and restore spinal stability, thereby facilitating an intervertebral fusion. In one embodiment, the fusion device includes a body portion, a first endplate, and a second endplate, the first and second endplates capable of being moved in a direction away from the body portion into an expanded configuration or capable of being moved towards the body portion into an unexpanded configuration. The fusion device is capable of being deployed and installed in both configurations.
Patellar implants
A patellar implant is provided being of a two part construction having a strong base portion 32, 54, 72 and 92 (manufactured from a metal material or other medical grade strong material) with a molder outer material 34, 62, 80 and 100 (manufactured from a polymeric material or other softer, smoother material) at least on one side to provide a smooth friction surface to contact the femoral portion of a patient's knee.
Expandable spinal interbody and intravertebral body devices
A device for insertion into a spinal (intervertebral or intravertebral) space is expandable and contractable. The device includes a body assembly, a top member configured to fit within a gap in the body assembly, a drive gear disposed within the body assembly at a distal end of the body assembly, a proximal gear assembly, and a distal gear assembly. The drive gear includes a receiver accessible from outside the body assembly and configured to be rotated in order to rotate the drive gear. Each gear assembly is attached to the top member. The distal gear assembly engages the drive gear. Rotation of the drive gear in a first direction causes the gear assemblies to translate the top member away from the body assembly, and rotation of the drive gear in a second direction causes the gear assemblies to translate the top member towards the body assembly.
Method for placing implant using robotic system
A method for placing an implant on a patient in a robotic surgical procedure using a robotic system. During the robotic surgical procedure, a navigation system tracks the patient. The navigation system also provides information to the robotic system to guide movement of a cutting tool to remove material from the patient such that a cut surface is created to receive the implant. The implant is then robotically placed on the cut surface.
Methods of fusing a sacroiliac joint
One implementation of the present disclosure may take the form of a sacroiliac joint fusion system including a joint implant, an anchor element and a delivery tool. The joint implant includes a distal end, a proximal end, a body extending between the proximal and distal ends, and a first bore extending non-parallel to a longitudinal axis of the body. The anchor element includes a distal end and a proximal end and is configured to be received in the first bore. The delivery tool includes an implant arm and an anchor arm. The implant arm includes a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the implant arm is configured to releasably couple to the proximal end of the joint implant such that a longitudinal axis of the implant arm is substantially at least one of coaxial or parallel with the longitudinal axis of the body of the joint implant. The anchor arm includes a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the anchor arm is configured to engage the proximal end of the anchor element. The anchor arm is operably coupled to the implant arm in an arrangement such that the longitudinal axis of the anchor element is generally coaxially aligned with a longitudinal axis of the first bore when the distal end of the implant arm is releasably coupled with the proximal end of the joint implant and the distal end of the anchor arm is engaged with the proximal end of the anchor element. The arrangement is fixed and nonadjustable.
EXPANDABLE INTERBODY IMPLANT DEVICE
Disclosed herein are aspects of expandable interbody devices having an unobstructed graft material containment space. Such expandable interbody devices have a structure in which an overall plan view area of the graft material containment space is devoid of elements of the expandable interbody device enabling adjustment of the expandable interbody devices between a collapsed configuration and displaced configuration (e.g., an expanded configuration and/or a tilted configuration). In this manner, expandable interbody devices configured in accordance with embodiments of the disclosures made herein do not have obstructions within the graft material containment space thereof that limit the available volume of graft material and associated bony material growth that may be contained within the graft material containment space.
EXPANDABLE FUSION DEVICE WITH INTEGRATED DEPLOYABLE RETENTION SPIKES
Expandable fusion devices, systems, and methods. The expandable fusion device includes one or more integrated deployable retention spikes configured to resist expulsion of the device when installed in the intervertebral disc space. The implant may include upper and lower main endplates, an actuator assembly configured to cause an expansion in height of the upper and lower main endplates, and a sidecar assembly including a sidecar carrier, an upper carrier endplate engaged with an upper spike, and a lower carrier endplate engaged with a lower spike such that forward translation of the sidecar carrier pushes against the upper and lower carrier endplates, thereby deploying the upper and lower spikes.
Pressure forming of metal and ceramic powders
A method of pressure forming a brown part from metal and/or ceramic particle feedstocks includes: introducing into a mold cavity or extruder a first feedstock and one or more additional feedstocks or a green or brown state insert made from a feedstock, wherein the different feedstocks correspond to the different portions of the part; pressurizing the mold cavity or extruder to produce a preform having a plurality of portions corresponding to the first and one or more additional feedstocks, and debinding the preform. Micro voids and interstitial paths from the interior of the preform part to the exterior allow the escape of decomposing or subliming backbone component substantially without creating macro voids due to internal pressure. The large brown preform may then be sintered and subsequently thermomechanically processed to produce a net wrought microstructure and properties that are substantially free the interstitial spaces.
Bone graft delivery devices, systems and kits
A bone graft delivery kit includes a hollow tube having a proximal end and a distal end. The hollow tube is configured to convey graft material to a graft receiving area in a patient. The hollow tube can be connected to an implant. The kit further includes a plunger to facilitate moving the graft material through the hollow tube.
Sacroiliac joint implant system
Accordingly, a broad object of the invention can be to provide an inventive implant to facilitate stabilization while allowing an amount of motion of a sacroiliac joint. Embodiments of the sacroiliac joint implant can provide an elongate body, which can further include at least one fixation member, or a pair of fixation members which extend a distance outward from the longitudinal axis of the implant body adapted for non-transverse placement between the articular surfaces of the sacroiliac joint, and as to certain embodiments can further provide a third fixation member and additionally a fourth fixation member each adapted to extend a distance outward from the elongate body into the bone of the sacrum or the ilium.
