HEIGHT AND LORDOSIS ADJUSTABLE SPACER
An expandable interbody spacer that is delivered in the anterior approach with adjustable height and end plate angulation (lordosis). The expandable interbody spacer is configured to have an initial collapsed state having a first height suitable for being inserted into an intervertebral space defined by a pair of adjacent vertebrae, and an expanded state having a second height that is greater than the first height. The expandable interbody spacer may be expanded from the initial collapsed state to the expanded state in-situ. The expanded state increases the distance between the adjacent vertebrae and provides support to the adjacent vertebrae while bone fusion occurs and also provides rigid support between the adjacent vertebrae that withstands compressive forces. By inserting the expandable interbody spacer into the intervertebral space in the initial collapsed state, it is possible to perform the surgery percutaneously with minimal disruption to tissues surrounding the surgical site and intervening soft tissue structures.
PATIENT-SPECIFIC EXPANDABLE SPINAL IMPLANTS AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A device for performing intervertebral body fusion between at a vertebral joint, and associated systems and methods for manufacturing the device are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the device includes an expandable main body configured to be locked in a desired configuration between a superior and an inferior vertebrae at the vertebral joint to facilitate the intervertebral body fusion at the vertebral joint. A first endplate is connected to the main body. The first endplate can include a superior surface having one or more patient-specific features configured to engage and mate with an inferior surface of the superior vertebra. A second endplate is connected to the main body. The second endplate can include an inferior surface having one or more patient-specific features configured to engage and mate with a superior surface of the inferior vertebra.
ZIRCONIUM-COATED IMPLANT COMPONENT AND USE OF SAME
The present disclosure relates to an implant component (10, 20) having at least one connecting portion (30, 60), the connecting portion being at least partly coated with a Zr coating and the coating having a thickness of 1-20 μm, preferably 1-6 μm. The present disclosure further relates to a modular endoprosthesis comprising an implant component, to the use of a Zr coating to prevent crevice corrosion and/or fretting corrosion, and to the use of an implant component in patients suffering from a metal allergy.
Laser-produced porous surface
The present invention disclosed a method of producing a three-dimensional porous tissue in-growth structure. The method includes the steps of depositing a first layer of metal powder and scanning the first layer of metal powder with a laser beam to form a portion of a plurality of predetermined unit cells. Depositing at least one additional layer of metal powder onto a previous layer and repeating the step of scanning a laser beam for at least one of the additional layers in order to continuing forming the predetermined unit cells. The method further includes continuing the depositing and scanning steps to form a medical implant.
Universal low-profile intercranial assembly
A universal low-profile intercranial assembly includes a mounting plate and a low profile intercranial device composed of a static cranial implant and an interdigitating functional neurosurgical implant. The low profile intercranial device is shaped and dimensioned for mounted to the mounting plate.
Bone fusion device
A bone fusion device provides stability to bones during a bone fusion period. The bones include, for example, the vertebrae of a spinal column. The bone fusion device comprises one or more extendable tabs attached to the bone fusion device by associated rotating means. The bone fusion device is preferably inserted by using an arthroscopic surgical procedure. During arthroscopic insertion of the device, the tabs are pre-configured for compactness. In this compact configuration, the tabs are preferably deposed along and/or within an exterior surface of the bone fusion device. After the bone fusion device has been positioned between the bones, one or more tab(s) are extended. In the preferred embodiment, the position of each tab is related to a positioning element and extending blocks. Typically, the tabs advantageously position and brace the bone fusion device in the confined space between the bones until the bones have fused.
Expandable interbody spacer
Devices and methods for treating one or more damaged, diseased, or traumatized portions of the spine, including intervertebral discs, to reduce or eliminate associated back pain. In one or more embodiments, the present invention relates to an expandable interbody spacer. The expandable interbody spacer may comprise a first jointed arm comprising a plurality of links pivotally coupled end to end. The expandable interbody spacer further may comprise a second jointed arm comprising a plurality of links pivotally coupled end to end. The first jointed arm and the second jointed arm may be interconnected at a proximal end of the expandable interbody spacer. The first jointed arm and the second jointed arm may be interconnected at a distal end of the expandable interbody spacer.
Fusion cage with integrated fixation and insertion features
A surgical implant system includes an implant and a fixation member for securing the implant to tissue. The implant and the fixation member together comprise a single monolithic structure. The implant includes an insertion instrument. The implant, the fixation member, and the insertion instrument together comprise a single monolithic structure and are constructed from a single material. The implant is monolithically connected to the fixation member at a first frangible connection and is monolithically connected to the insertion instrument at a second frangible connection. Each of the frangible connections can be broken when force is applied.
Minimally invasive posterior cervical facet arthrodesis shim implant and tools therefor
The shim-type implant for distraction and fusion of cervical facet joints is provided. The implant has a generally box-like shape with a blunt leading edge that may be centered or offset to the inferior face. The implant may include a graft window for enhanced osseous through-growth after implantation. The implant is coated with hydroxyapatite (HA) and/or tri-calcium phosphate (TCP) to allow for osteo-conduction, is porous, and has a roughened surface with serrations on the superior and inferior faces. The implant may be fabricated from a titanium or tantalum alloy. In an embodiment, a set of tools is provided with a chisel and one or tongs and one or more decorticators for inserting the implant.
