DYNAMIC SPINAL SEGMENT REPLACEMENT
A vertebral body system and method having a polyaxial fastener receiving member, adjustable width plates and a pedicle screw having a pedicle threaded portion and a threaded portion for fastening to the vertebral body.
Tooth and bone restoration via plasma deposition
A natural and sustainable material is derived from the nut of the tagua palm tree that may be fashioned into devices for humans and animals. A pulverized and reconstituted material is disclosed herein that is also treated with a low temperature atmospheric plasma treatment. In an embodiment, a biocompatible carrier gas is ionized to form a biocompatible atmospheric plasma stream. Material, such as nano-scale powdered hydroxyapatite, is introduced into the plasma stream, which is then applied to the natural nut material.
Zero profile spinal fusion cage
An interbody fusion cage having upper and lower canals for receiving the heads of bone screws that have been pre-installed in opposing vertebral body endplates. The proximal wall of the cage preferably has a vertical slot that communicates with each canal and is adapted to allow access by a screwdriver and tightening of the screws.
Spinal implant system and method
A spinal implant comprises a first member, a second member and an actuator defining a transverse pivot axis, A first link is connected to the first member and the actuator adjacent the pivot axis. The first link includes an inner surface defining a cavity. A second link is connected to the second member and the actuator adjacent the pivot axis. The actuator is rotatable for translating the pivot axis such that the second link is movable within the cavity to move the members between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.
EXTRUSION PRINTING OF BIOCOMPATIBLE SCAFFOLDS
Compositions and methods for making biocompatible articles are provided. A method includes preparing a 3D printable mixture and depositing successive layers of the mixture in a predetermined pattern to form a porous biocompatible article. The predetermined pattern has a porosity suitable for a bone or cartilage scaffold. Associated 3D printable compositions and porous articles made from the described methods are also described. The preparing a 3D printable mixture can comprise conjugating an alkyne-terminated polymer to a peptide to form a peptide-containing composite, or providing a mixture that comprises a ceramic material and a binder, and wherein the 3D printable mixture comprises from 50 wt. % to 80 wt. % of the ceramic material.
MEDICAL HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, MEDICAL TISSUE RECONSTRUCTION BAG, AND MOLDING DIE
A medical honeycomb structure lacking at least a portion of an outer peripheral side wall of a honeycomb structure that includes a plurality of through-holes extending in one direction, wherein sites lacking the outer peripheral side wall have a plurality of grooves, and have a plurality of planes including distant surfaces of groove side walls flanked by the grooves.
PIEZOELECTRIC BONE CEMENTS AND CELL CULTURE DISHES
A bone cement includes a liquid component including a monomer configured to polymerize upon curing of the bone cement; and a solid component dispersed in the liquid component, the solid component including a powder of a polymer; an initiator; and a powder of a piezoelectric ceramic. A cell culture dish includes a base; and walls connected to the base to define an interior of the cell culture dish, wherein at least a portion of an interior surface of the base includes a piezoelectric material.
Osteoinductive Calcium Phosphates
The invention relates to a porous osteoinductive calcium phosphate material having an average grain size in a range of 0.1-1.50 μm, having a porosity consisting essentially only of micropores in a size range of 0.1-1.50 μm, and having a surface area percentage of micropores in a range of 10-40%.
SPINAL CERVICAL FUSION CAGE WITH BUILT-IN ANCHORAGES
A self-seating spinal cervical cage, including a pair of spaced support members, each respective support member having a first end and a second end, a plurality of teeth extending from each respective first end and each respective second end, a plate member bisecting each respective spaced support member, an array of apertures formed through the plate member, and a porous scaffolding operationally connected to the plate member and defining an open cell pore network. The plate member bisects the porous scaffolding. The plate member and the spaced support members define a unitary titanium body.
Distractible intervertebral implant
A distractible intervertebral implant configured to be inserted in an insertion direction into an intervertebral space that is defined between a first vertebral body and a second vertebral body is disclosed. The implant may include a first body and a second body. The first body may define an outer surface that is configured to engage the first vertebral body, and an opposing inner surface that defines a rail. The second body may define an outer surface that is configured to engage the second vertebral body, and an inner surface that defines a recess configured to receive the rail of the first body. The second body moves in a vertical direction toward the second vertebral body as the second body is slid over the first body and the rail is received in the recess.
