An electronic device includes a display module including: a display panel foldable with respect to a folding axis and a support part disposed under the display panel; and an accommodating part which accommodates the display module. The display panel includes: a first display portion covered by the accommodating part in a folded state of the display panel; and a second display portion exposed to the outside in the folded state. The accommodating part includes: a first accommodating part which accommodates the first display portion in the folded state; and a second accommodating part which accommodates the first accommodating part in the folded state. As the display panel is folded, an included angle between the first display portion and the second display portion decreases, and an area in which the first accommodating part overlaps the second accommodating part increases in a plan view.

TOUCH SENSING IN A FLEXIBLE/FOLDABLE TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY

A device having a flexible touch screen display configured to display images in at least a first touch area and a second touch area. The first touch area is configured to rotate with respect to the second touch area along a folding axis. A first plurality of touch sensitive column electrodes are integrated into the first touch area, a second plurality of column electrodes are integrated into the second touch area of the flexible display, and a plurality of row electrodes are integrated into and extend across the first touch area and the second touch area. Also included are a plurality of drive-sense circuits that drive sensor signals on the electrodes. A processing module senses, based on the sensor signals, an electrical characteristic of at least one row electrode and at least one column electrode of the first plurality of column electrodes or the second plurality of column electrodes and determines, based on the electrical characteristic, a proximal touch to at least one of the first touch area or the second touch area.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING AND CHARACTERIZING INPUTS ON A TOUCH SENSOR SURFACE

One variation of a system for interfacing a computer system and a user includes: a touch sensor defining a touch sensor surface and extending over an array of sense electrode and drive electrode pairs; a vibrator coupled to the touch sensor surface; and a controller configured to: detect application of an input onto the touch sensor surface and a force magnitude of the first input at a first time; execute a down-click cycle in response to the force magnitude exceeding a threshold magnitude by driving the vibrator to oscillate the touch sensor surface; map a location of the input on the touch sensor surface to a key of a keyboard represented by the touch sensor surface; and output a touch image representing the key and the force magnitude of the input on the touch sensor surface at approximately the first time.
