The plurality of portions are divided along a plurality of dividing lines each having a locking mechanism, respectively. A power supply is electrically connected to the locking mechanisms to activate and deactivate the locking mechanisms. A portion of the plurality of portions border corresponding locking mechanisms along corresponding dividing lines of the plurality of dividing lines. The portion is selectable for decoupling and removal, in response to deactivation of the corresponding locking mechanisms for the portion of the flexible display.

A method and system for applying materials to an electronic device may include generating an electromagnetic (EM) map of the device. The EM map may indicate locations of EM radiation emitted from the electronic device. The method may also include generating a thermal map of the electronic device that may indicate locations of thermal energy emitted from the device. The method may also include generating a shielding map from the EM thermal maps. The shielding map may include instructions to control a shielding apparatus, including locations on the electronic device to apply an EM shielding material and a thermal material. The method may also include controlling a shielding apparatus to apply the EM shielding material and thermal material to the electronic device, according to the shielding map. The EM shielding material and thermal material may be applied to varying depths on the electronic device.

A wireless anti-static device is disclosed, including an electronic sensing circuit that measures the polarity and electrostatic potential of the subject relative to its surroundings. Ion guns of positive and negative polarities are able to transfer an arbitrary quantity and polarity of charge from the subject by ejecting ionized air molecules into the surrounding environment. A control unit is programmed to trigger the appropriate ion gun when a corresponding charge is measured on the body, in order to continually maintain the net charge on the body below a desired threshold. The subject is thus effectively grounded relative to its environment without requiring physical tethers to ground.
