A multiple mode display apparatus and methods of use. An apparatus includes a display surface with a first and a second display area. A housing pivotally attached with the display proximate a first edge of the housing is displaceable from a coplanar position with the surface of the display device to a position wherein an angle of at least 90 degrees between the surface of the display and the housing is formed along said first edge. In the first position, the first display area is visible and activated to receive user input or to display output. The second display area is covered by the housing and placed in a mode of reduced power consumption. In the second position, the second display area is visible and activated to display output.

Position and usage based prioritization for capacitance sense interface

A technique for improving capacitive sensing accuracy. Concurrent activations of multiple capacitance sensors within an array of capacitance sensors are sensed. One of the concurrent activations of the multiple capacitance sensors is accepted as a user activation. Remaining ones of the concurrent activations of the multiple capacitance sensors are rejected based on their physical location within the array of capacitance sensors relative to the one of the concurrent activations of the multiple capacitance sensors accepted as the user activation.

PORTABLE COMPUTING DEVICE WITH RETRACTING KEYS FOR TABLET USE

A portable computing device may include a lid and a base. The lid may include a display on a front side of the lid. The base may be rotatably attached to the lid. The rotatable attachment of the base to the lid may enable the lid to rotate from an open position in which the lid is rotated away from the base to a tablet position in which a back side of the lid faces a bottom side of the base. The base may include a keyboard on a top side of the base and an elastic sheet extending over the keyboard. The keyboard may include keys configured to retract into the base in response to the lid rotating to the tablet position and extend out of the base in response to the lid rotating out of the tablet position.

Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device, such as a notebook computer, laptop, or tablet that includes a circuit board coupled to a plurality of electronic components (which may include any type of components, elements, circuitry, etc.). One particular example implementation of an information-processing device includes a logic component mounted on a circuit board. The information-processing device also includes a plastic layer surrounding the logic component. Further, the information-processing device includes a first metal layer surrounding the logic component. The plastic layer is integrated with the first metal layer.

Multiple Monitor Display Apparatus
20170255232 · 2017-09-07 ·

A multiple monitor apparatus in the form or a laptop PC, a desktop monitor, a mobile device, and the like. In dual screen mode, the additional monitor is typically presented displaying different content and centered to the user. In single screen mode, the additional display enclosures are retracted and stored in such a manner that they do not present themselves to the user. A guiderail assembly is used to center both display enclosures relative to the user. The guiderail assembly may be motorized or manually effected and may be located above or below the primary enclosure hinge. The secondary enclosure may be extended and retracted from the primary enclosure by the use of slider arms. The secondary enclosure may also be hinged to the primary enclosure, utilize pegs, ride on its own guiderail, and detach from the primary enclosure or the apparatus. Independent guiderails may also be employed to center two or more displays relative to a user. In one embodiment, the monitor may be rotated from landscape to portrait view.

Keyset Fingerprint Sensor with Backlight

Designs and techniques for keyset fingerprint sensors with backlight are described herein. In one or more implementations, a fingerprint sensor is integrated within a keyset of an input device. For instance, a key within an arrangement of keys is adapted to operate as a sensor key having an integrated fingerprint sensor. The sensor key is included within the arrangement of keys rather than being provided as a separate or external component. The sensor key includes a cover and a transmission layer covering the fingerprint sensor. A backlight integrated with the sensor key is arranged to supply light for the backlighting. The backlight is operable to selectively supply light at different times, in different colors, and/or in different sequences to illuminate a pattern on the cover and thereby provide indications indicative of sensing operations performed via the fingerprint sensor.

FOLDABLE KEYBOARD COVER

A foldable keyboard cover according to various embodiments of the disclosure is configured to be attached to an electronic device, in which a first housing and a second housing are connected to each other to be foldable via a hinge unit. The foldable keyboard cover comprises: a first cover configured to face the first housing of the electronic device and including a first attachment unit configured to be attached to the first housing, a second cover configured to face the second housing of the electronic device and including a second attachment unit configured to be attached to the second housing, a first folding unit configured to face the hinge unit of the electronic device and connecting the first cover and the second cover to be foldable about a first folding axis, and a physical keyboard including a first keyboard arranged on at least a partial region of the first cover and a second keyboard arranged on at least a partial region of the second cover. The first folding unit may comprise an elastic material wherein the first cover and the second cover are configured to cover the first housing and the second housing in a state in which the first housing and the second housing of the electronic device are folded.

Data device including OFN functionality
