A mobile terminal including a sensing unit for detecting a movement between a first frame and a second frame movable in a first direction or a second direction opposite to the first direction with respect to the first frame may accurately determine a position of the second frame, and may slidably move stably.

MULTI-ORIENTATION DISPLAY DEVICE

A computing device includes a flexible display screen, a housing to house at least one processor device and at least one memory element, and a first wing to support a side portion of the display screen. The front face of the housing includes a center portion of the display screen. The first wing is connected to the housing by a hinge, the first wing configured to swivel about an axis defined by the hinge. The hinge is configured to lock the first wing in at least two wing positions, a first of the wing positions supports the side portion of the display screen in a first orientation, a second of the wing positions supports the side portion of the display screen in a second orientation, and the side portion of the display screen is active in the first orientation and hidden in the second orientation.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUTOMATICALLY OPENING HINGED COMPONENTS OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES
20230409088 · 2023-12-21 ·

The present disclosure is directed at automatically opening hinged components of computing devices. One of the computing devices and a hinged component may include an electrical winding or coil while the other may include a magnet. When current is applied to the electrical winding (e.g., in a direction opposite of the North/South direction of the magnets' magnetic field), the electrical winding may generate a magnetic field opposite that repels the magnet's magnetic field. The magnetic repulsion may cause the hinged component to separate from the rest of the computing device, thereby opening the hinged component. When the current is removed from the electrical winding, the electrical winding may no longer generate a magnetic field, enabling the hinged component to be closed.

Mobile apparatus

An electronic apparatus includes a first body which includes a keyboard and an adaptor, and a second body which includes a display and a frame in which the display is installed. The first body includes a first magnet, and the second body includes a second magnet. The second body is rotatable with respect to the keyboard of the first body while the first body is attached to the second body.

Electronic apparatus having a hole area within screen and control method thereof

An electronic apparatus having a hole area and a controlling method of are provided. More particularly, an electronic apparatus having a hole area which may enlarge an image or application screen through analysis and a method for controlling a hole area of an electronic apparatus are provided. Some embodiments provide an electronic apparatus having a hole area, capable of analyzing an edge (or edge of an application screen) of an image and displaying on one of an entire area or a main area and a method for controlling a hole area of the electronic apparatus. In addition to above, various exemplary embodiments are available.

Electronic device with optical user input modes and localized haptic response, and corresponding systems and methods
10955921 · 2021-03-23 · ·

An electronic device includes a first housing portion and a second housing portion. A reflective surface defines a major surface of the second housing portion. A signal emitter and a signal receiver are supported by the first housing portion. The signal emitter delivers signals to the reflective surface and the signal receiver receives reflections of the signals to determine one or more of location of an object or whether the object is touching the reflective surface. One or more haptic devices are supported by the second housing portion. One or more processors, operable with the signal receiver and the one or more haptic devices, actuate at least one haptic device when the signal receiver detects the object touching the reflective surface.

Dynamic distortion correction for optical compensation

A distortion calibration system generates a distortion map for a head-mounted display (HMD). The system includes a camera that takes pictures of a test pattern displayed by the HMD. The images are taken at different camera positions and/or states of the HMD. The system determines a distortion map using the captured images, and uploads it to the HMD as part of, e.g., an optical model. The HMD comprises an electronic display, an eye tracking unit, an optics block, and a module. The module estimates distortion values based on eye tracking information from the eye tracking unit, an optical model, and a state of the HMD (e.., a distance between the optics block and the electronic display). The module determines an adjusted state of the HMD using the estimated distortion values, the eye tracking information, and the optical model, and adjusts the state of the HMD to the adjusted state.

Dock for a portable electronic device

A dock for a portable electronic device includes a base and a cradle defining an interior volume configured to house at least a portion of the portable electronic device. The dock further includes an arm rotatably coupled to the base at a first end and rotatably coupled to the cradle at a second end. A security apparatus is configured to be inserted into a slot of the portable electronic device upon insertion of the portable electronic device into the cradle to prohibit removal of the portable electronic device from the dock.

INTERACTIVE DISPLAY SYSTEM WITH MULTIFUNCTIONAL PRIVACY SWITCH
20210081003 · 2021-03-18 ·

An interactive display system may include (i) a housing surrounding at least a portion of a display region, (ii) a camera for capturing images via a camera opening defined in the housing, (iii) a microphone for capturing audio content, and (iv) a privacy switch assembly including a sliding member that is movable between a plurality of set positions. The plurality of set positions may include (i) a first position at which a field of view of the camera is unobstructed and the microphone is active, (ii) a second position at which a shutter of the privacy switch assembly blocks the field of view of the camera or the microphone is disabled, and (iii) a third position at which the shutter blocks the field of view of the camera and the microphone is disabled. Various other systems, devices, assemblies, and methods are also disclosed.

Flexible display device
10963014 · 2021-03-30 · ·

A flexible display device is disclosed. The flexible display device includes a first body, a second body, a roller, and a flexible display. The flexible display includes a first region forming a plane surface and a second region of which a portion forms a curved surface around the roller. A plurality of engagement protrusions are formed on an outer circumferential surface of the roller, and a plurality of support bars are coupled to an inner surface of the second region. The engagement protrusions engage the support bars. When the second body moves relative to the first body, the roller rotates with the engagement protrusions engaging the support bars, and the second region is uniformly deformed and moves.
