Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for display devices with transverse planar microphone arrays. In one embodiment, an example voice-activated device may include a housing, and a display assembly coupled to the housing, where a first vertical axis associated with the display assembly is at an acute angle relative to a second vertical axis associated with the housing. Example devices may include a number of microphone openings disposed in a front face of the display assembly, a speaker coupled to the housing and oriented to direct a portion of sound towards a rear portion of the device, and a fabric disposed over the housing, the fabric comprising an aperture disposed along the rear portion of the device.
Method for controlling a display
There is provided an apparatus comprising at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to perform: receiving an activity type of a user; receiving sensor data; determining at least one measurement value based on the sensor data; detecting at least one first activity type specific change in the at least one measurement value; and activating a display in response to detecting the at least one first activity type specific change in the at least one measurement value.
AMBIENT LIGHT SENSING USING LIGHT GUIDES
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for ambient light sensing using light guides. In one embodiment, an example device may include a cover layer, a light guide, a light emitting diode disposed adjacent to an edge surface of the light guide, and an ambient light sensor disposed adjacent to the light emitting diode. The ambient light sensor may be configured to sense ambient light that propagates through the cover layer and the light guide.
GESTURE DETECTION USING PIEZO-ELECTRIC ACTUATORS
A gesture detection system comprising a virtual button structure for mounting in an outer frame of a mobile device for detecting finger gestures by a user. First and second piezo-electric actuators are in contact with the virtual button structure, and configured to generate first and second varying electrical signals, respectively in response to a dynamic force application to the virtual button structure. A processor is configured to execute instructions stored in memory to i) determine a magnitude and a position of the dynamic force application on the virtual button structure over time, based on the first varying electrical signal and the second varying electrical signal, ii) determine a gesture corresponding to the magnitude and the position of the dynamic force application over time; and iii) provide a response signal based on the gesture.
Display apparatus and controlling method of the display apparatus
A display apparatus and a controlling method thereof are provided. The display apparatus includes: a display panel; at least one sensor configured to detect a distance to an external object; a driver configured to rotate the display panel while a front surface of the display panel maintains a facing direction; and a processor configured to: based on an event for rotating the display panel occurring, control the driver to rotate the display panel, and based on detecting, via the at least one sensor, the object within a predetermined distance in a rotating direction of the display panel while the display panel rotates, control the driver to stop rotating the display panel, wherein the predetermined distance has different values according to a rotating angle by which the display panel has rotated from a position of the display panel before the event occurred.
Under-screen biometric identification apparatus and electronic device
Provided are an under-screen biometric identification apparatus and an electronic device. The under-screen biometric identification apparatus includes: a lens disposed under a display screen for receiving an optical signal formed by reflection of a human finger on the display screen, where the optical signal is used to detect biometric information of the finger; a lens barrel, where the lens is fixed in the lens barrel; and a support, where the support is connected to the lens barrel by means of threaded connection for supporting the lens barrel. An under-screen biometric identification apparatus and an electronic device provided in embodiments of the present application can improve the efficiency of under-screen biometric identification.
Handheld electronic device
A portable electronic device includes a housing, a display at least partially within the housing, a front cover coupled to the housing and positioned over the display, a rear cover coupled to the housing and defining a first portion of a rear exterior surface of the portable electronic device, a protrusion defining a sensor array region of the rear cover and a second portion of the rear exterior surface, and an internal surface opposite the second portion of the rear exterior surface. The portable electronic device also includes a sensor array mounted within the housing along the sensor array region and comprising a frame member coupled to the rear cover along the internal surface and defining a wall structure defining a first container region and a second container region, a camera module positioned in the first container region, and a depth sensor module positioned in the second container region and attached to the internal surface of the rear cover.
AR/VR NAVIGATION WITH AUTHENTICATION USING AN INTEGRATED SCROLLWHEEL AND FINGERPRINT SENSOR USER INPUT APPARATUS
A virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) system includes: a display configured to display a user interface to a user; an integrated scrollwheel and fingerprint sensor (FPS) user input apparatus, comprising a scrollwheel configured to detect a rotational navigation input from the user and an FPS configured to detect a biometric input from the user; and a processing system configured to: receive the rotational navigation input via the scrollwheel of the integrated scrollwheel and FPS user input apparatus; update a displayed user interface on the display based on the received rotational navigation input, wherein updating the displayed user interface comprises updating a user selection on a displayed menu; receive an activation input for the updated user selection on the displayed menu via the FPS of the integrated scrollwheel and FPS user input apparatus; and execute an operation corresponding to the updated user selection on the displayed menu.
