A chassis in a device housing includes a housing of the housing, a hard disk drive, and a fastening apparatus. The housing includes a backplane and a side plate defining an opening. The hard disk drive defining an opening is electrically coupled to the backplane. The fastening apparatus includes a connecting member and a fastening member. The connecting member includes a connecting post. The connecting post defines a mounting hole. Two locking protrusions protrude from the connecting post. A raised portion protrudes from an inside wall of the mounting hole. The fastening member includes an urging portion. The fastening apparatus is coupled between the hard disk drive and the side plate. The fastening member is mounted in the mounting hole, and the raised portion is urged by the urging portions. The connecting post undergoes elastic deformation, and the locking protrusions are locked in the openings.

Hard drive tray device

A hard drive tray device applied in a server is provided. The server includes a housing. The hard drive tray device includes a rail member and a tray. The rail member is disposed at the inner wall of the housing. The tray is slidably engaged with the rail member so as to slide between an expanded position and a closed position relative to the housing. The tray includes a base for carrying two storage devices. The base has a hollow portion. The storage devices are respectively located at two sides of the hollow portion. When the tray slides to the expanded position, one of the storage devices and at least a part of the hollow portion are located outside the housing.

A server can be used for a cold storage application. The server can comprise a nest for holding a high density of bare storage drives, wherein the nest comprises a plurality of drive cooling channels residing on the underside of the nest. The server can further comprise rear, front, and side air flow paths for natural convection cooling.

SERVER SYSTEM

A system includes a rack and one or more server systems mounted in the rack. A server system includes a chassis with one or more arrays of devices in the chassis. Each array includes mass storage devices and a server device mounted in the array within the chassis of the server system. The server device occupies no more than an equivalent volume of space in the chassis as one of the mass storage devices. A set of mass storage devices of an array and the server device of the array form a logical node, and a server system may include multiple logical nodes in the same chassis. Each array of devices may be located in a sled that can move into and out of the chassis of the server system.
