One embodiment provides a system and method for reshaping the power budget of a cabinet to facilitate an improved deployment density of servers. A battery cabinet comprises: a plurality of sealed batteries; a power outlet; and a power management module coupled to the sealed batteries and the power outlet. The power management module comprises: a power monitoring module configured to monitor a first amount of power consumed by one or more computing devices via a main power supply; a detection module configured to detect that the first amount of power consumption exceeds a predetermined power consumption threshold; and a power provision module configured to provide, via the sealed batteries, power to the power outlet until the first amount of power consumption no longer exceeds the predetermined power consumption threshold.

COMPUTER HOUSING

A desktop computing system having at least a central core surrounded by housing having a shape that defines a volume in which the central core resides is described. The housing includes a first opening and a second opening axially displaced from the first opening. The first opening having a size and shape in accordance with an amount of airflow used as a heat transfer medium for cooling internal components, the second opening defined by a lip that engages a portion of the airflow in such a way that at least some of the heat transferred to the air flow from the internal components is passed to the housing.

DEVICE HEATER MODULE

A device heater module can be installed within a device such as a server, and can prevent the device from powering on while the temperature of the device is being restored to an operating temperature. The device heater module can prevent the device from powering on by operating a switch to disconnect the device from an external power supply. The device heater module can thereafter actively or passively modify the temperature of the device. After the temperature of the device is restored to within the operating temperature, the device heater module can operate the switch to reconnect the device to the external power supply, thereby allowing the device to initiate a boot process.

Device having fool-proofing structure and cabinet type device assembly

A device having fool-proofing structure is configured to be inserted into a cabinet along a first direction and includes a case and an elastic sheet module. The elastic sheet module is disposed on a side of the case and includes a first end disposed on the case, a second end opposite to the first end, a first protrusion portion and a second protrusion portion. The first protrusion portion is adjacent to the second end, protrudes from the case and is configured to abut against the cabinet. The second protrusion portion is farther from the second end than the first protrusion portion, protrudes from the case, and is configured to make the second end and the first protrusion portion move toward the interior of the case as being pressed by a force.
