Information handling system virtual and physical keyboard position coordination

A portable information handling system includes a physical keyboard that extends and retracts from within the system to outside of the system and a display that presents a virtual keyboard that moves synchronously with physical keyboard during retraction and extension. For example, as keys of the physical keyboard become visible or hidden by movement of the physical keyboard, the virtual keyboard slides across the display so that virtual keys are hidden or visible with the virtual keyboard in one example embodiment only showing virtual keys corresponding to hidden physical keys. In another example embodiment, the virtual keyboard accepts key inputs for hidden physical keys, which are disabled from accepting inputs.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE

A low-cost electronic device capable of storing keycaps within a chassis is disclosed. The electronic device includes a support plate; a set of keycaps supported above the top face of the support plate, the keycaps moving up and down between the operating position and the storage position; and a frame functioning as a driving member that is movable relative to the keycaps in the direction parallel to the top face of the support plate. Each keycap has a pressure-receiving part. The frame has pressing parts that move relative to the keycaps to come in contact with the pressure-receiving parts.

A keyboard device includes a keyboard base, a top cover, plural keys, a storing frame and a sliding member. The keyboard base includes a base slot. The keyboard base is covered by the top cover. The storing frame is fixed on a bottom surface of the top cover. A first end of the storing frame is arranged near the base slot. The sliding member is selectively stored within the storing frame or moved relative to the keyboard base to be partially protruded out of the base slot. When the keyboard device is in a storage state, the sliding member is stored within the storing frame. When the keyboard device is in a mouse operation state, the sliding member is partially protruded out of the storing frame and the base slot so as to support a mouse device.

Tactile input device for a touch screen

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for tactile user input are described herein. A tactile user input system includes a tactile input device and a smart table. The smart table comprises a display screen, a network interface, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit comprises a processor and a memory. The processing circuit is configured to sense a placement of the tactile input device on the smart table. The processing circuit is further configured to determine a necessary user input and determine a location of the tactile input device on the smart table. The processing circuit is further configured to rearrange a user interface of the smart table. The processing circuit is further configured to communicate a necessary input configuration to the tactile input device and used by the tactile input device to generate a tactile user interface having an appropriate layout based on the necessary input configuration.

A keycap detachably provided on a guide mechanism of a key switch includes a cap main body having a front face pressed at the time of key input and a rear face on the opposite side to the front face; and a first engaging projection and a second engaging projection, both of which protrude from the rear face of the cap main body with a gap therebetween so that an engaging portion of the guide mechanism is detachably engaged into the gap. At least a part of an area around the first engaging projection and the second engaging projection in the cap main body has a thin part thinner than other parts of the cap main body. As a result, the falling off of the keycap can be prevented.

Embodiments are directed to a sensing membrane that is coupled with electrical terminals of a key switch and a light source. This may allow the membrane to be both configured to transmit a signal in response to actuation of keyboard key cap and illuminate an illuminable symbol of key cap. In one aspect, the membrane includes a set of deformable layers separated by a spacer layer. Terminals of the key switch are connected to distinct ones of the set of deformable layers and positioned within a cavity defined by the spacer layer. A light assembly may be positioned along and configured to move with one of the set of deformable layers. Depression of a key cap toward the set of deformable layers causes the set of terminals to move and initiate a switch event.

COUPLED STRUCTURE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE

A coupled structure capable of keeping the coupled state between coupled members without degrading the appearance, and an electronic device including such a coupled structure are disclosed. A coupled structure includes a keyboard unit coupled with a main body chassis. The coupled structure includes a hook mechanism which engages the keyboard unit with the main body chassis when the keyboard unit moves in one direction relative to the main body chassis, a locking part formed at the main body chassis, and an elastic part formed at the keyboard unit, and the elastic part biases the keyboard unit engaged with main body chassis in the one direction relative to the main body chassis when the locking part locks the elastic part.
