ELECTRONIC PEN
20180011560 · 2018-01-11 ·

An electronic pen indicates a position to a position detection module by transmitting and receiving signals with the position detection module. A cylindrical casing, a core member, a writing-pressure detector, and a writing-pressure transmission member are accommodated in a hollow section of a cylindrical casing. Provided is a pressing member that applies, based on an operation by a user, a displacement force to the core member from a first end, which is opposite to a second end serving a pen tip, to the second end serving as the pen tip. The writing-pressure transmission member includes a protrusion which, in operation, transmits a writing pressure, which has been exerted on the core member fitted in a fit-in portion included in the writing-pressure transmission member, to the writing-pressure detector. The pressing member is configured to apply a displacement force to the core member via the writing-pressure transmission member without applying an axial force to the writing-pressure detector.

VOICE COMMAND-DRIVEN DATABASE
20180011685 · 2018-01-11 ·

A voice command-driven system and computer-implemented method are disclosed for selecting a data item in a list of text-based data items stored in a database using a simple affirmative voice command input without utilizing a connection to a network. The text-based data items in the list are converted to speech using an embedded text-to-speech engine and an audio output of a first converted data item is provided. A listening state is entered into for a predefined pause time to await receipt of the simple affirmative voice command input. If the simple affirmative voice command input is received during the predefined pause time, the first converted data item is selected for processing. If the simple affirmative voice command input is not received during the predefined pause time, an audio output of a next converted data item in the list is provided.

GESTURE-BASED USER INTERFACE

Position Tracking System Employing External Magnetic Field
20180010925 · 2018-01-11 ·

A common method for providing user-input to an electronic system consists of tracking the position and motion of an object moved by the user and conveying this information to the electronic system. One embodiment of a positional tracking system for an object has an external and stationary magnetic-field emitter, a magnetic-field sensor which moves with the tracked object, and a microprocessor that compares magnetic-field intensity measurements taken by the sensor and compares it to magnetic-field characteristics defined for the external magnetic field emitter. A nonlinear equation solver, particle filter, or other method is used to determine the position of the sensor in the magnetic field. In this way the position of an object can be tracked using a single magnetic field emission source. This positional information can be combined with an inertial tracking system to mitigate drift errors.
