Techniques for providing a virtual touch screen are described. An example of a computing device with a virtual touch screen includes a projector to project a user interface image and a depth camera to detect objects in the vicinity of the user interface image. The computing device also includes a touch service that receives image data from the depth camera and analyzes the image data to generate touch event data. The computing device also includes a User Input (UI) device driver that receives the touch event data from the touch service and reports the touch event data to an operating system of the computing device. The touch service and UI device driver are system level software that is operable prior to a user logging onto the computing device.

Touch input detection

Example implementations relate to touch input detection. In some examples, a computing device may include a touch sensitive interface, a processing resource, and instructions executable by the processor. The instructions may be executable by the processor to cause the processor to detect a period of inactivity of the touch-sensitive interface; activate a one-dimensional scan for a touch input on the touch-sensitive interface in response to detecting the period of inactivity; and activate a two-dimensional scan for a touch input on the touch sensitive interface in response to detecting the period of inactivity.

A thin-film transistor (TFT) photodetector for a display panel is provided. The TFT photodetector includes an amorphous transparent substrate used as the display panel, a source formed of amorphous silicon or polycrystalline silicon on the transparent substrate, a drain formed of amorphous silicon or polycrystalline silicon, opposite to the source on the transparent substrate, an active layer formed between the source and the drain and having a current channel formed between the source and the drain, an insulating oxide film formed on the source, the drain, and the active layer, and a light receiving part formed on the insulating oxide film and configured to absorb light. When light is incident on the light receiving part, electrons migrate by tunneling through the insulating oxide film between the light receiving part and the active layer which have been excited with the insulating oxide film in between, the amount of charge in the light receiving part is changed by the migration of the electrons, a threshold voltage of the current channel is changed due to the change of the amount of charge, and photocurrent flows through the current channel due to the change of the threshold voltage.
