An image forming device includes a memory; and at least one processor in communication with the memory. The at least one processor of the image forming device is configured to perform: receiving job information for executing a function of the image forming device from a terminal, the job information including user information; based on the user information included in the received job information, logging a user into the image forming device; executing a job based on the received job information; and based on execution of the job, logging out the user from the image forming device.

Embodiments of the disclosure include an image forming device that: receives job information for executing a function of the image forming device from a terminal, the job information including user information; based on the user information included in the received job information, determines whether a user corresponding to the user information is permitted to use a function specified by the job information; in response to a determination that the user is permitted to use the function, executes a job based on the job information; and in response to a determination that the user is not permitted to use the function, notifies the terminal of an error. Using user information included in job information sent from the terminal, whether a corresponding user has the right to execute a job is determined, and if the user has no right, the terminal is notified of an error.

Techniques are described for auditing print content during printer redirection in a virtual desktop. The ability to audit redirected print content allows an organization to pre-define certain sensitive data and to track whether print redirection requests in the virtual desktop environment contain any such sensitive data. If such sensitive data is contained in a printer redirection request, a file is generated containing information about the sensitive data, as well as a watermark that encodes information about the printer redirection request, such the user identifier of the user who initiated the print request and a timestamp of when the print request occurred. The generated file is transmitted to one or more registered recipients.

An authentication server may, in a case where a communication state between the authentication server and a management server is a non-connecting state, send first authentication information to an external device. A printer may, in a case where a communication state between the printer and the management server changes from a communication-enabled state to a communication-disabled state, shift a state of the printer from a first permission state to a first prohibition state, while the state of the printer is the first prohibition state, accept an input of second authentication information from a user; and, in a case where the input of the second authentication information is accepted and the second authentication information matches the first authentication information, shift the state of the printer from the first prohibition state to a second permission state.

Provided is an image forming apparatus capable of reliably outputting remotely. The job acquisition unit acquires a job. When the job is acquired by the job acquisition unit, an imaging unit captures the surroundings and acquires image data. The person detection unit detects a person in the image data imaged by the imaging unit. When the person is detected by the person detection unit, the notification unit notifies the person to request a response to the job. The image forming unit forms an image of the job after the notification by the notification unit.

An information processing apparatus connected to a printing apparatus includes a storage configured to store user print settings, common print settings, and restrictive information restricting changes to print settings; a display configured to display print settings; and a controller including a processor and configured to acquire the user print settings, the restrictive information, and the common print settings. If there is a setting item restricted by the restrictive information, the controller causes a setting value in the common print settings to be reflected in a setting value for the restricted setting item of the user print settings, and causes the display to display the resulting user print settings, with entry for the restricted setting item being restricted.

An image forming apparatus includes a confirmer, a response receiver, and a controller. The confirmer causes the image forming device to stand by, without starting production of a printed material, upon deciding that a print request has been sent from a remote location distant from the image forming apparatus, and transmits, through a network I/F, a request for final confirmation just before starting, about whether the production of the printed material may be started, to a user of a terminal device that transmitted the print request. The response receiver receives a response to the final confirmation, from the terminal device owned by the user. The controller causes the image forming device to start the production of the printed material, upon deciding that the response from the user received by the response receiver indicates permission to start the production of the printed material.

An image forming apparatus includes a processor configured to: allow execution of printing using registered print information, the registered print information being allowed to be applied to a print job for performing printing, the registered print information being allowed to be recorded in image forming apparatuses individually, and receive an operation for executing a print job, the print job being a job to which the registered print information is applied; when the registered print information is recorded in the image forming apparatus, the registered print information being applied to the print job for which the operation for execution is received, perform printing in the image forming apparatus by using the registered print information; and, when the registered print information is not recorded in the image forming apparatus, the registered print information being applied to the print job for which the operation for execution is received, perform printing by using the registered print information received from at least one different image forming apparatus, the at least one different image forming apparatus recording the registered print information.

An information processing apparatus includes a unit that receives, on a group chat, an execution command to execute specific processing that requires entry of secret information from a first user belonging to the group chat including two or more users; an acquisition unit that acquires the secret information from a second user belonging to the group chat without letting a third user belonging to the group chat and different from the second user know the secret information; and a controller that performs control so that the specific processing based on the execution command is executed by using the secret information.

An image forming apparatus, includes: an image generator; a motion sensor; a login-logout processor; a display; a console; a memory; an on-hold setting receiver that receives a setting to either hold or cancel a set value not completely entered, when the motion sensor is not able to detect the user; and a controller that controls the image generator, the motion sensor, the login-logout processor, the display, the console, the memory, and the on-hold setting receiver. The controller causes the memory to store the set value not completely entered and switches a setting screen if the on-hold setting receiver is set to hold the setting not completely entered when the motion sensor is not able to detect the user while the display displays the setting screen, and cancels the set value not completely entered and switches the setting screen if the on-hold setting receiver is set to cancel the setting not completely entered.
