This invention provides a data processing apparatus operable to execute processing requested by an application, where the apparatus comprises a processing unit configured to, if there is an instruction for processing, execute the processing in accordance with a command list indicated by the instruction; and a control unit configured to, upon receiving a request for processing from the application, generate a command list corresponding to the request and instruct the processing unit to perform the processing, wherein the processing unit comprises a switching unit configured to, upon receiving, from the control unit, a second instruction during execution of a command list for a first instruction, switch to execution of a command list for the second instruction at a timing of execution of a command that is a control point preset in the command list for the first instruction.

Digital process controller and a method for controlling a production process of a complex composed end product by process jobs. Each process job is a pre-print job, a print job or a finishing job. The digital process controller is connected to a digital network, provided with a user interface and configured to receive print content and print and finishing specifications of the complex composed end product via the digital network, to receive a selection of a process recipe for the complex composed end product, the process recipe comprising a plurality of process steps and the relationships between the process steps, to decompose the production of the complex composed end product into the plurality of process steps in the process recipe, to execute the process recipe process step by process step, to validate each process step individually, and to display the validation result of each process step at the user interface.

Methods and systems resume workflow processing of a print job at intermediate steps of a print workflow. In one embodiment, a control system initiates processing of a print job based on steps in a print workflow, where the steps identify print shop activities to perform for the print job. The control system identifies an error in executing a step of the workflow, and identifies an intermediate step in the workflow that has executed in processing the print job. The control system identifies an updated file for the print job to correct the error, and resumes the processing of the print job at the intermediate step using the update file.

The disclosure discloses a printer including a first memory that stores computer-executable instructions that cause the printer to perform a terminal searching process, a job receiving process, and a coordination control process. In the terminal searching process, it is searched whether any of the operation terminals retains the printing job conforming to an accepting condition or not, by performing the mutually-recognized communication triggered by reception of a signal of an action-starting operation in a starting operation accepting process. In the job receiving process, in the case that some of the operation terminals retain the printing job conforming to the accepting condition, the printing job from the operation terminal is received. In the coordination control process, the printing head and the feeder are controlled in coordination with each other in the manner that the printed matter in accordance with print data in the printing job is produced.

Systems and methods are provided for managing individual documents of a print job based on recipient preferences. One system is a workflow server that includes an interface able to receive print data defining a print job that includes documents that each indicate an intended recipient for delivery. The workflow server also includes a controller able to direct devices of a print shop in accordance with a workflow that comprises an ordered set of activities to perform upon the documents. The controller is further able to acquire preferences for the intended recipients, to correlate documents in the print job with the acquired preferences, and to alter processing of the correlated documents in the workflow, based on the preferences of the intended recipients.

An information processing apparatus includes a generation unit, an adding unit, and an association unit. The generation unit generates, in a case where additional processing needs to be performed on input information in a workflow, unique information for uniquely identifying the information. The adding unit adds the unique information generated by the generation unit to identification information for identifying the information to generate new identification information of the information. According to an example, print client based marking may include instructing a repository to store metadata related to a document. A machine-readable mark that includes an identification of a location of the metadata may be printed on the document.

An incoming physical mail item addressed to a resident of a controlled-environment facility is converted to a digital format mail item, which is associated with the resident and archived in an electronic database. A determination may be made whether the resident is allowed to receive the physical mail item. If so, the digital format mail item may be delivered to the resident as an electronic message, if an electronic message service is available to the resident.

An information processing apparatus includes circuitry that accepts a configured print setting for generating image data, generates identification information for identifying the image data, generates first image data based on a first print setting different from the configured print setting, stores, in a memory, the identification information of the image data and the first image data associated with each other, generates second image data including the identification information of the image data by applying the configured print setting to the first image data, accepts a second print setting configured for the second image data and the identification information of the image data included in the second image data, the second print setting being different from the first print setting, specifies the first image data based on the identification information of the image data included in the second image data, and generates third image data by applying the second print setting configured for the second image data to the specified first image data.
