An image forming apparatus includes a controller configured to perform a storage printing process that includes storing print data in a dedicated memory, which is a portable memory set as a storage destination to store the print data in the storage printing process when attached to a dedicated port among a plurality of ports, and causing a print engine to perform printing according to the print data stored in the dedicated memory in response to an operation received via a user interface, prior to the storage printing process, set one of the plurality of ports as the dedicated port, in response to a portable memory being attached to a port, determine whether the portable memory is the dedicated memory and the port is the dedicated port, and provide a notification when determining that the portable memory is the dedicated memory but the port is not the dedicated port.

A printer capable of providing a replication of communication data without using an external device includes a first communication interface, a second communication interface, and a processor. In an image forming apparatus, a controller is configured to perform receiving an operation of one of enabling and disabling a particular storing function of storing image forming data related to an image forming job received through a first interface in a portable storage. When receiving the operation of enabling/disabling the particular storing function, the particular storing function is enabled/disabled. In response to receipt of the image forming job through the first interface in a state where the particular storing function is enabled, the image forming data is stored in the portable storage device connected to the second interface. An image is printed with use of the image forming part in accordance with the image forming data stored in the portable storage. Data different from the image forming data is stored in and/or retrieved from the portable storage device in a state where the particular storing function is disabled.
Performing print job according to format of print job acquired based on metadata
A user device generates metadata including location information of a print job target, based on a user input made via a user interface device, and transmits the generated metadata to an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus analyzes the metadata received from the user device via a communicator, obtains a print job target from a server storing the print job target, based on location information of the print job target included in the metadata, and performs a printing job according to a format of the obtained print job target.

In an image forming apparatus, a controller is configured to perform receiving an operation of one of enabling and disabling a particular storing function of storing image forming data related to an image forming job received through a first interface in a portable storage. When receiving the operation of enabling/disabling the particular storing function, the particular storing function is enabled/disabled. In response to receipt of the image forming job through the first interface in a state where the particular storing function is enabled, the image forming data is stored in the portable storage device connected to the second interface. An image is printed with use of the image forming part in accordance with the image forming data stored in the portable storage. Data different from the image forming data is stored in and/or retrieved from the portable storage device in a state where the particular storing function is disabled.

A multifunction peripheral as an example of an image forming apparatus according to the present disclosure has an office direct print function. According to the office direct print function, a print process based on application data generated by predetermined application software or compatible application software compatible with the application software may be directly executed without using a personal computer or the like. When a font is substituted in execution of the print process performed by the office direct print function, a caution message screen and a preview screen are displayed on a display of the multifunction peripheral before the print process is executed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR STORING INTERRELATED IMAGE INFORMATION IN A PRINT JOB FILE
A method and system for creating a printing plate from a vector format image file having image and non-image areas. A boundary in vector coordinates is identified via a user interface that defines each image area corresponding to an image patch. The image file is raster image processed (RIPped) to create RIPped image information associated with the vector coordinates corresponding to the image patches. The RIPped image information and associated vector coordinates are processed to create RIPped image patches, register marks attached to each RIPped image patch, and the RIPped image patches with register marks and corresponding vector coordinates stored in a processing file. The system includes a computer memory, an interface for providing the image file, a user interface, and a computer processor configured to perform the method.
