PRINTING SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING PRINT JOBS HAVING DOCUMENT COMPONENTS
A printing system includes a printing device having a digital front end (DFE) and at least one client device that sends print jobs to the printing device. A print job may include different components needed to completely print a document, such as a cover and block of pages for a book. The DFE identifies the different components within the print job and provides tight integration to coordinate the printing of the different components. Rules are used to identify the different components. Once identified, the DFE can route the components accordingly to different output bins as well as provide separate print instructions for the components. Rules also are used to define job batching within the printing device.
System and method for printing colored media when input color matches media color
A system and method are provided which enable a print media color to be used, as a replacement for a mixture of one or more colorants, in rendering portions of a print job. One or more multidimensional look-up tables are provided. Each table provides for an identified input color, in a device-independent space, to be equated to no colorant, when printed on the respective print media. The identified input color is one of a set of input colors, which, when printed and measured, has an output color that is closest to a measured color of the print media.
METHOD FOR RECONFIGURING A MEDIA PRINTER TO OPTIMIZE SINGLE MEDIA PRINTING
A method is disclosed to provide a DTS machine that is simple to operate and can through human operator control provide economic and competitive throughput speeds as compared to more complex DTS machines utilizing multiple printing tunnels and material handlers. The present method repositions a print carriage and a reconfigures an inkjet printhead bank to accommodate different sizes and shapes of media. The allows for the printing of a single piece of media in a single each printing event, but maintains a printing throughput similar to DTS machines having the capability to print media in parallel printing events. Media is moved from a media loading area on the machine by a single operator into a printing tunnel and then the operator adjusts the angle of the media relative to a reconfigurable array of ink-heads to meet inkjet expression distance requirements.
Printing system having conveyance paths to discharge destinations
A printing system includes a printing unit, a determination unit, and a switching unit. The printing unit prints an image on a recording medium. The determination unit compares a prestored reference image and a read image corresponding to a reading result of a printed document in which the image is printed on the recording medium and determines whether a result of the comparison satisfies a predetermined condition. The switching unit switches a discharge destination of the recording medium based on a result of the determination. The switching unit switches a conveyance path of the recording medium based on whether the determination is performed.
Verification apparatus, control method thereof, printing system, and storage medium
A verification apparatus includes reads an image on a sheet conveyed using a plurality of imaging units configured to respectively perform reading in read regions different from each other in a predetermined direction orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the sheet, the read regions respectively corresponding to adjacent imaging units partially overlapping with each other. The apparatus performs processing of changing a size, in the predetermined direction, of a larger one of a read image obtained by reading the image on the sheet by each of the plurality of imaging units, and a corresponding reference image, in accordance with a size of a smaller one, and performs verification by comparing the read image corresponding to each of the plurality of imaging units with the corresponding reference image, after the processing has been completed.
METHOD FOR CREATING A PRINT CONTROL PROFILE FOR PRINTING ON A CONTOURED AXIALLY SYMMETRIC OBJECT
A process is disclosed for creating a print profile to control the operation of a direct-to-shape printing system for applying images on the exterior of an axially symmetrical media object that has a contoured, varying exterior surface, such as occurs on curved wine bottles and sports equipment like bats. The process takes a media recipe holding media geometry information and an image intended to be printed and processes that information to control a motion control subsystem and a print engine subsystem. The geometry information is manipulated to generate a CAM table suitable for the motion control subsystem, and the image file is processed to create a raster image file suitable for ink head expression. Various setup values are included in the process to prepare the direct-to-shape printing system for use of the media recipe.
PRINTING SYSTEM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM
An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to acquire a variable print item associated with an element printed by a print instruction, and associated with position information indicating a position of a printable area of the element; receive an inspection accuracy designated by a user for the acquired item; and output the received inspection accuracy and the item and/or the position information associated with the item to an inspection device that inspects the element of a printed matter by the print instruction.
INSPECTION SYSTEM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, PRINTING APPARATUS, METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE PRINTING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
An information processing apparatus holds a print job and identification information of a reference image that is associated with the print job and is used in inspection printing of the print job. In a case that a reprint according to the held print job is instructed, the information processing apparatus determines whether or not a change has been made in print settings of the held print job and whether or not inspection printing that uses the reference image being associated with the held print job is possible, and in a case that it is determined that the inspection printing that uses the reference image being associated with the held print job is not possible, controls so as to set the identification information of the reference image in the held print job to none and transmits the held print job to the printing apparatus.
Mechanism to predict print performance using print metadata
A printing system is described. The printing system includes a memory to store print performance prediction logic and a processor to execute the print performance prediction logic to train a prediction model, receive print job metadata, receive configuration criteria of a printing system and predict first processing performance measurements of the printing system using the prediction model to simulate the printing system based on the print job metadata and the configuration criteria.
Correcting registration errors in digital printing
A method for correcting an error in image printing, the method includes receiving a reference digital image (RDI). Based on a predefined selection criterion, one or more regions in the RDI that are suitable for use as anchor features for sensing the error, are automatically selected. A digital image (DI) acquired from a printed image of the RDI, is received and the one or more regions are automatically identified in the DI. Based on the anchor features of the DI, the error is automatically estimated in the printed image. A correction that, when applied to the DI, compensates for the estimated error, is calculated. The estimated error is corrected in a subsequent digital image (SDI) to be printed, and the SDI having the corrected error, is printed.
