Instruction interrupt suppression of overflow exception

Instruction interrupt suppression for an overflow condition. An instruction is executed, and a determination is made that an overflow condition occurred. Based on a per-instruction overflow interrupt indicator being set to a defined value, interrupt processing for the overflow condition is performed, and based on the per-instruction overflow interrupt indicator being set to another defined value, the interrupt processing for the overflow condition is bypassed.

Method and apparatus to support instruction replay for executing idempotent code in dependent processing in memory devices

Methods and processing devices are provided for error protection to support instruction replay for executing idempotent instructions at a processing in memory PIM device. The processing apparatus includes a PIM device configured to execute an idempotent instruction. The processing apparatus also includes a processor, in communication with the PIM device, configured to issue the idempotent instruction to the PIM device for execution at the PIM device and reissue the idempotent instruction to the PIM device when one of execution of the idempotent instruction at the PIM device results in an error and a predetermined latency period expires from when the idempotent instruction is issued.

Information processing apparatus and non-transitory computer readable medium storing information processing program

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to execute a reset process for resetting a watchdog timer, execute a recovery process of the information processing apparatus, in a case where the watchdog timer is not able to be reset within a time limit, and sets the time limit to a longer time, in a case where an apparatus load which is at least one of a current processing load per unit time of the information processing apparatus or a processing amount of a processing request which is input to the information processing apparatus is large, as compared to a case where the apparatus load is small.

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for display processing. For example, disclosed techniques facilitate speculative page fault handling in a GPU. Aspects of the present disclosure can perform a graphics operation associated with using a set of constants within a flow control. Aspects of the present disclosure can also query a first memory to determine whether memory addresses associated with the set of constants are allocated at a constant buffer of the first memory. Further, aspects of the present disclosure can set a page fault indicator to a true value when the query indicates that at least one memory address associated with the set of constants is unallocated at the constant buffer, and set the page fault indicator to a false value otherwise.

Detecting a dynamic control flow re-convergence point for conditional branches in hardware

Systems, methods, and apparatuses relating to hardware for auto-predication of critical branches. In one embodiment, a processor core includes a decoder to decode instructions into decoded instructions, an execution unit to execute the decoded instructions, a branch predictor circuit to predict a future outcome of a branch instruction, and a branch predication manager circuit to disable use of the predicted future outcome for a conditional critical branch comprising the branch instruction.

Detection of faults in performance of micro instructions

Micro-architectural fault detectors are described. An example of storage mediums includes instructions for receiving one or more micro instructions for scheduling in a processor, the processor including one or more processing resources; and performing fault detection in performance of the one or more micro instructions utilizing one or more of a first idle canary detection mode, wherein the first mode includes assigning at least one component as an idle canary detector to perform a canary process with an expected outcome, and a second micro-architectural redundancy execution mode, wherein the second mode includes replicating a first micro instruction to generate micro instructions for performance by a set of processing resources.

DETECTION OF POTENTIAL NEED TO USE A LARGER DATA FORMAT IN PERFORMING FLOATING POINT OPERATIONS

Detection of whether a result of a floating point operation is safe. Characteristics of the result are examined to determine whether the result is safe or potentially unsafe, as defined by the user. An instruction is provided to facilitate detection of safe or potentially unsafe results.

Restricted instructions in transactional execution

Restricted instructions are prohibited from execution within a transaction. There are classes of instructions that are restricted regardless of type of transaction: constrained or nonconstrained. There are instructions only restricted in constrained transactions, and there are instructions that are selectively restricted for given transactions based on controls specified on instructions used to initiate the transactions.

MULTI-TABLE INSTRUCTION PREFETCH UNIT FOR MICROPROCESSOR

A method, programming product, and/or system for prefetching instructions includes an instruction prefetch table that has a plurality of entries, each entry for storing a first portion of an indirect branch instruction address and a target address, wherein the indirect branch instruction has multiple target addresses and the instruction prefetch table is accessed by an index obtained by hashing a second portion of bits of the indirect branch instruction address with an information vector of the indirect branch instruction. A further embodiment includes a first prefetch table for uni-target branch instructions and a second prefetch table for multi-target branch instructions. In operation it is determined whether a branch instruction hits in one of the multiple prefetch tables; a target address for the branch instruction is read from the respective prefetch table in which the branch instruction hit; and the branch instruction is prefetched to an instruction cache.

Split-level history buffer in a computer processing unit

A split level history buffer in a central processing unit is provided. A first instruction and a second instruction are fetched, tagged, and the first instruction is stored an entry of a register file. The first instruction is evicted from the entry and the second instruction is stored in the entry. If the first instruction is evicted, then the first instruction is stored in a first portion of a history buffer. If a result for the first instruction is generated, then the first instruction is moved to a second portion of the history buffer and the result is stored with the first instruction in the second portion of the history buffer. If it is determined that a third instruction evicts the second instruction from the entry, then the second instruction is stored in the first portion of the history buffer.
