MODULARIZED BASIC INPUT OUTPUT SYSTEM (BIOS) FIRMWARE ACTIVATION
A basic input output system (BIOS) of an information handling system may access a first list indicating one or more activation statuses of one or more BIOS firmware modules. The BIOS may determine a BIOS firmware module of the one or more BIOS firmware modules to load based, at least in part, on the first list. The BIOS may load the determined BIOS firmware module during booting of the information handling system.
UNIVERSAL RETURN TO FACTORY IMAGE PROCESS
Systems and methods for file system management are provided. According to one embodiment, a non-transitory computer-readable medium comprises instructions that when executed by the processing resource cause the processing resource to implement, in a storage node, a multi-tiered file system comprising a read-only layer that contains a base configuration for the storage node and a read-write layer that contains modifications to the base configuration; and combine the read-only layer and the read-write layer into an overlay file system to be presented to an operating system.
CONTAINERIZED POINT-OF-SALE (POS) SYSTEM AND TECHNIQUE FOR OPERATING
A Point-Of-Sale (POS) processing environment is encapsulated within a container running on a first Operating System (OS) of a transaction terminal. Peripheral drivers for connected peripherals run on a second and different OS of the transaction terminal. A platform processing environment runs the peripheral drivers on the second and different OS of the terminal. A socket interface is provided for communication between transaction applications of the POS processing environment with the peripheral drivers of the platform processing environment for purposes of allowing the transaction applications to control and access the connected peripherals during transactions performed at the transaction terminal via the socket interface.
CONTROL METHOD, STORAGE MEDIUM, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS
An object of the present disclosure is to provide UI display that secures the visual recognizability of a user even in a case where the number of characters to be displayed is large. One embodiment of the present invention is a control method of an information processing apparatus, the method including: a specification step of specifying notification contents; and a notification step of performing, based on at least one of a number of line feeds included in the specified notification contents and a number of characters included in the specified notification contents, processing for notifying the specified notification contents by a predetermined notification method, wherein the predetermined notification method is a notification method of displaying, after a first portion of the specified notification contents is displayed and the display of the first portion is terminated, a second portion different from the first portion of the specified notification contents.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO UPDATE ADD-ON CARDS FIRMWARE AND COLLECT HARDWARE INFORMATION ON ANY SERVERS WITH ANY OS INSTALLED OR BARE-METAL SERVERS
Systems and methods described herein are directed to upgrading one or more of add-on firmware and disk firmware for a server, which can involve connecting a port of the server to an isolated network, the isolated network dedicated to firmware upgrades for the server; caching onto cache memory of the server, an operating system received through the isolated network; booting the operating system on the server from the cache memory; conducting an Network File System (NFS) mount on the server to determine hardware information associated with the upgrading of the one or more of the add-on firmware and the disk firmware; and upgrading the one or more of the add-on firmware and the disk firmware based on the hardware information.
Configurable computer memory
A method for configuring a computer system memory, includes powering on the computer system; retrieving options for initializing the computer system; assigning to a first segment of the memory a first pre-defined setting; assigning to a second segment of the memory a second pre-defined setting; and booting the computer system.
OPERATIONAL CODE STORAGE FOR AN ON-DIE MICROPROCESSOR
Methods, systems, and devices for operational code storage for an on-die microprocessor are described. A microprocessor may be formed on-die with a memory array. Operating code for the microprocessor may be stored in the memory array, possibly along with other data (e.g., tracking or statistical data) used or generated by the on-die microprocessor. A wear leveling algorithm may result in some number of rows within the memory array not being used to store user data at any given time, and these rows may be used to store the operating code and possibly other data for the on-die microprocessor. The on-die microprocessor may boot and run based on the operating code stored in memory array.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR BATTERY CONTEXT-AWARE LIMITING OF BIOS MANAGED OPERATIONS
An information handling system may include a processor, a battery configured to provide electrical energy to components of the information handling system, and a basic input/output system (BIOS) communicatively coupled to the processor and embodied by executable instructions embodied in non-transitory computer readable media, the instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, in response to one of execution of a BIOS managed operation or a request for execution of the BIOS managed operation: determine an energy requirement for execution of the BIOS managed operation; determine an energy capacity of the battery; determine if the energy capacity is sufficient to satisfy the energy requirement; and limit one or more features of the BIOS managed operation in response to the energy capacity being insufficient to satisfy the energy requirement.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE, CONTROL METHOD, AND CONTROL PROGRAM
An information processing device includes processing circuitry configured to determine whether or not there is integrity in predetermined data regarding a boot sequence of an Operating System (OS) during execution of shutdown of the OS, arid suspend shutdown of the OS when it is determined that there is no integrity in the predetermined data.
Initialization data memory space allocation system
An initialization data memory space allocation system includes a memory system having a memory space that includes an initialization data bucket that reserves a contiguous subset of the memory space for initialization data. Each initialization engine that is coupled to the memory system is configured during initialization operations to allocate, for that initialization engine, a portion of the contiguous subset of the memory space reserved by the initialization data bucket, and then store initialization data in that portion of the contiguous subset of the memory space reserved by the initialization data bucket. A runtime engine that is coupled to the memory system is configured, during runtime operations, to claim the contiguous subset of the memory space reserved for initialization data by the initialization data bucket for runtime data, and store runtime data in at least a portion of the contiguous subset of the memory space.
