ILLUMINABLE ICON WITH A LIGHT GUIDE FILM AND AN ISOLATION BLOCK

An information handling system may include one or more illuminable icons to present information to a user of the system, such as information regarding a status of the information handling system. An illuminable icon may be lit by a plurality of light sources, and light from the plurality of light sources may be diffused across the illuminable icon by a light guide film. Some illuminable icons may have multiple portions that may be separately illuminated to convey different information to a user. An isolation block may prevent light from light sources configured to illuminate one portion of an illuminable icon from illuminating other portions of the illuminable icon. Thus, light for illuminating icons of an information handling system may be diffused and/or blocked to enhance aesthetic appeal of the icons and to prevent user confusion that may result from bleeding of light from one portion of an illuminable icon to another and/or uneven illumination of an icon.

A management system is described. The management system includes an interface coupled to a plurality of infrastructure appliances and one or more processors to monitor each of the plurality of infrastructure appliances, detect a malfunction at a first of the infrastructure appliances, and transmit a display message to one or more of the plurality of infrastructure appliances that are adjacent to the first infrastructure appliance, wherein a display message indicates one or more activity light indicators to be activated at an adjacent infrastructure appliance.

COMBINED HEAT AND POWER SOURCE HAVING OUTER LAYER COMPRISING CORK

Portable electronic devices having an outer layer comprising cork. Such portable electronic devices are portable, compact, and relatively lightweight. The outer layer comprising cork provides improvements in functional performance and ergonomic benefits as compared to hand warmers having polymer or metallic outer layers. The portable combined hand warmer and power bank with an outer layer comprising cork exhibits improvements in heat retention, heat distribution, and limited heat transfer to the initial touch. The outer layer comprising cork is comfortable and relatively soft and grippy as compared to the plastic or metallic outer layers of conventional hand warmers. The portable electronic device having the unique outer layer comprising cork also repels and wicks moisture as compared to other hand warmers having plastic and/or metallic outer layers. The outer layer comprising cork can also be relatively anti-microbial and germ resistant.

System to monitor computing hardware in a computing infrastructure facility

Embodiments relate to monitoring computing hardware in a computing infrastructure facility. Image data and environmental data are received and a current operational status for a computing hardware component is determined from the image data. A hardware operational status tracking model and environment tracking model for the computing hardware component are updated. Embodiments can perform a root cause analysis if the current operational status is a fault status to determine if the fault status was caused by environmental conditions.

ANTI TAMPER PROCESSING

A method includes determining, by a processing module of a data logging device, whether an event has occurred that potentially compromises reliability of the data logging device. The method further includes, when the event has occurred, determining, by the processing module, whether the reliability of the data logging device has been compromised. The method further includes, when the reliability of the data logging device has been compromised, generating, by the processing module, a compromised indication signal. The method further includes, when the reliability of the data logging device has not been compromised, generating, by the processing module, a data integrity indication signal.

Method and Apparatus for Controlling LED Operation of a Storage System

LED operation rules correlating device event, LED action, LED color, and optionally LED brightness are specified in software. As devices connect to a host computer, a correlation between device ID and USB port is detected. A port map for the storage system is used to correlate the location of a USB port where the electronic device connected to a set of LEDs on the storage system. As the states of the electronic devices connected to the storage system change, the custom-defined LED operational rules are applied on the LEDs of the storage system to cause the LEDs identified by the LED operational rules to be illuminated. Since the LED operational rules are customizable, a user can cause any combination of LED action, color, and brightness to be associated with any electronic device state.

A direct-attach cable data transmission visual indicator system includes a networking device having a port. A direct-attach cable includes a direct-attach cable connector that is located on an end of the direct-attach cable and that couples the direct-attach cable to the port. A visual indicator device is included on the direct-attach cable connector and is configured to receive data transmission information from the networking device via the port and the direct-attach cable connector, with the data transmission information associated with the transmission of data via the port. The visual indicator device then provides a visual indication that is based on the data transmission information.

Data Logging with Pass Indication

A method includes processing, by a processing module of a data logging device, a plurality of log commands. The processing of a log command of the plurality of log commands includes obtaining a measure of an environmental condition. The processing further includes updating a status of the environmental condition based on the measure of an environmental condition. The method further includes determining, by the processing module, the updated status of the environmental condition after the plurality of log commands have been processed. When the updated status of the environmental condition is favorable, the method further includes generating, by the processing module, a favorable environmental condition signal.

DATA LOGGING DEVICE

A data logging device includes an activation circuit, an environmental sensor, a processing module, and an environmental indicator. The activation circuit is operably coupled to place the data logging device in a ready mode based on an activation signal. The environmental sensor is operable to sense an environmental condition associated with the data logging device in response to a log command to produce sensed data. The processing module is operably coupled to generate the log command; receive the sensed data; determine whether the sensed data triggers an environmental violation; and, when the sensed data triggers the environmental violation, generate an environmental violation signal. The environmental indicator is operably coupled to provide a visual indication of the environmental violation based the environmental violation signal.

Method and apparatus of data logging

A method includes establishing, by a data logging device, a sleep mode. The method further includes receiving, by a processing module of the data logging device, a second activation command that causes the data logging device to transition to a standby mode. The method further includes receiving, by the processing module, a third activation command that causes the data logging device to transition to a ready mode. The method further includes receiving, by the processing module, a fourth activation command that causes the data logging device to transition to a logging mode. In the logging mode, the method further includes obtaining, by the processing module, a log command. In response to the log command, the method further includes obtaining, by the processing module, a measure of an environmental condition. The method further includes storing the measure of the environmental condition in memory of the data logging device.
