Hand powered vehicle
A hand-powered vehicle is provided for transportation and entertainment purposes. The vehicle has a frame supporting a pair of side wheels that are driven by the user. The frame includes a front portion and a pair of side portions extending rearwardly to the side wheels. The side portions of the frame do not extend rearwardly past the side wheels. The user sits on a seat that is supported by a portion of the frame extending rearwardly from the front portion and between the two side wheels. A third wheel is provided under or behind the seat, and that wheel is preferably a caster that is coupled to the frame at an angle to a vertical axis. The side wheels have hand grips extending therefrom, and the hand-powered vehicle is configured to be propelled by a user applying a force through the hand grips to rotate the side wheels.
Collapsible manual wheelchair system for improved propulsion and transfers
A manual wheelchair including a collapsible frame having a first lateral member that is connected to first and second braces at their respective first ends. A drive wheel axel extends along a first axis of rotation and engages a drive wheel, the first brace, and a portion of a transmission. A push rim axel extends along a second axis of rotation and engages a push rim wheel, the second brace, and a portion of the transmission, which transmits rotation of the push rim to rotation of the drive wheel. The collapsible frame additionally includes a second lateral member that is connected to the first and second braces as their respective second ends. The first and second braces are configured to release the second lateral member to collapse the manual wheelchair.
Mobile chair apparatus comprising foot pedals
A mobile chair apparatus is described that comprises a drive assembly that preferably includes one or more moveable foot pedals, and drive wheels which rotate in response to rotation of the foot pedals by the mobile chair occupant, and a steering assembly which comprises two steering wheels and two armrests, wherein movement of just one armrest will translate into movement of both steering wheels, and wherein the drive assembly and the steering assembly concurrently enable the mobile chair occupant to propel and steer the mobile chair apparatus without assistance from another person.
Mobile chair apparatus comprising foot pedals
An apparatus comprising a steering assembly, a drive assembly and a seat, the steering assembly comprises a first armrest connected to a first link arm, and a second armrest connected to a second link arm; a first tie rod connected to the first link arm and a second tie rod connected to the second link arm; a first steering block connected to the first tie rod and a second steering block connected to the second tie rod; a third tie rod interconnecting the first and second steering blocks; and a first and second steering wheel, and/or the drive assembly comprises a first and second drive wheel connected to an axle; a support shaft; foot pedals connected to a crank; a first chain connecting the crank to a gear hub; and a second chain connecting the gear hub to the axles or connecting components of the gear hub.
HAND DRIVE MECHANISM FOR MOBILE VEHICLE
A drive mechanism for a wheelchair may include a hand grip having a continuous track that moves over a drive rotator. The hand grip may have a flat, top surface that extends ventrally from the wheelchair. The drive mechanism may include a drivetrain connected to the drive rotator, such that movement of the hand grip in a dorsal or a ventral direction causes the drive rotator to rotate, and such rotation actuates the drivetrain. The drive mechanism may further comprise a switch. When the switch is in a first position, actuation of the drivetrain drives the wheels of the wheelchair. When the switch is in a second position, actuation of the drivetrain drives a mechanism that lifts the wheelchair into a standing position.
Foot operated mechanical steering system for a manual wheelchair
A mechanical steering system for a wheelchair to permit a user's foot to pivotably adjust a pair of caster wheels of the wheelchair is provided. The system includes a platform coupled to a frame of the wheelchair, a foot controller assembly pivotably mounted to the platform and having a foot plate to receive the user's foot and a rod coupled to the foot plate, a drag linkage member coupled to the rod of the foot controller assembly, and a pair of lever arm assemblies pivotably mounted to the drag linkage member, each lever arm assembly having a lever rod coupled to a fork member, the fork member being coupled to one of the caster wheels. Pivotable movement of the foot plate is transferred through the drag linkage member to permit both lever rods of the lever arm assemblies to pivot, thereby enabling simultaneous pivotal adjustments of the caster wheels.
Wheelchair hand rim, cover and fastening system therefor
A hand rim or push rim for a wheelchair wheel. The hand rim includes a rim structure with a convex bearing surface on a circumference of the rim structure, wherein the convex bearing surface is off-centered with respect to a center of the rim and tilted in an outer direction with respect to the wheelchair. Also provided is a wheelchair wheel hand rim cover, wherein the cover is made of ethylene vinyl acetate. There is also provided a fastening system for fastening a hand rim to a wheel. The fastening system includes fixing elements selectively and slideably interfacing with a plurality of anchor elements for selectively setting a separation distance between the hand rim and the wheel.
LOW-GEAR SYSTEM FOR MANUALLY PROPELLED WHEELCHAIRS AND METHODS OF USE
A geared wheel system for minimizing backlash is functionally coupled to a wheelchair and disclosed herein.
Mechanical wheelchair drive and wheelchair having such a mechanical wheelchair drive
The invention relates to a mechanical wheelchair drive, comprising a rotatably mounted lever, a handle fastened to the lever, and a force transfer unit for transferring rotational motion of the lever to a wheelchair wheel, wherein the lever has a variable length and is guided along a closed guide of a guide plate, said guide deviating from the circular form, such that the length of the lever changes during the rotational motion.
