WALKER-SHAPED HOVERBOARD ATTACHMENT
20190016407 · 2019-01-17 ·

A walker-shaped hoverboard attachment provides a center platform having a cavity and a rim around the cavity configured to rest on either side of a hoverboard's upper surface. Support rails and crossbars collectively configured as a walker may be fixedly connected to the platform. One or more brakes on one or more grips may enable a user to control the hoverboard while a user is standing on the platform.

Power assist apparatus for hand-propelled wheelchairs
10172750 · 2019-01-08 ·

A power assist apparatus that converts a hand-propelled wheelchair to a motorized wheelchair without the use of tools or mounting brackets. The apparatus has a motorized mechanism, a pair of outrigger assemblies, pivot mechanisms and position sensors. The motorized mechanism has a battery, a control mechanism and a pair of motorized sections that each have an electric motor and a wheel. The outrigger assemblies have arms that support the drive wheels of the wheelchair above the surface to be traversed. The position sensors determine movement of the outrigger assemblies or a wheel support mechanism attached thereto in response to rotation of the drive wheels by the occupant and transmit data to the control mechanism to operate the motors to move the wheelchair in the direction indicated by the drive wheels, thereby controlling movement of the apparatus in the same manner as the hand-propelled wheelchair.

WHEELCHAIR SUSPENSION

Wheeled vehicles, such as wheelchairs, that are adapted to traverse obstacles are provided. The wheeled vehicles include a frame, drive wheels, front anti-tip wheels positioned in front of the drive wheels and rear anti-tip wheels positioned behind the drive wheels. One exemplary vehicle includes front anti-tip wheels supported by rigid arms that are fixed to the frame and drive assemblies that are independently suspended from the frame. Another exemplary vehicle includes a linkage that links the front and rear anti-tip wheels, such that movement of one of the front or rear anti-tip wheel relative to the frame causes movement of the other wheel relative to the frame.

Handy type electric carriage

A handy type electric carriage comprises a vehicle body comprising a main vehicle frame, two driving wheels pivoted to the main vehicle frame at two sides, and two front wheel sets provided at two sides in front of the two driving wheels and pivoted to the main vehicle frame; and a footrest unit connected to the vehicle body, the footrest unit comprising a foot board connected to the main vehicle frame, and two first auxiliary wheels at left and right sides of the foot board. The main vehicle frame is situated in an unfolded or folded state due to a positioning mechanism. The front wheel sets and the main vehicle frame are pivoted in a manner of quick-release structure. Thereby, reduction in volume and easier to carry are provided for the handy type electric carriage, and providing easy and labor-saving shifting of the carriage is achieved.

Patient contact compensating wheelchair
10130533 · 2018-11-20 ·

This patent pertains to patient contact compensating wheelchairs. One implementation includes a motorized base that includes a battery and a seat positioned above the base. In one instance, the seat can include a moisture permeable structure configured to support a patient and a fan configured to move air below the moisture permeable structure to carry moisture from the patient away from the moisture permeable structure. Another implementation includes a set of patient contact objects configured to alternatively contact first and then second portions of an underside of the moisture permeable structure so that at a first time more of the patient's weight is supported at the first portion than at the second portion and at a second time more of the patient's weight is supported at the second portion than at the first portion, to relieve contact pressure of the patient.

MOTOR-DRIVEN CHAIR STEERED BY SEAT ROTATION

A motor-driven chair has a central drive wheel located beneath the seat and linked so as to be aligned with the facing direction of the seat. A user turns the direction of motion by rotating the seat relative to a surrounding stabilizer assembly so as to turn the seat and the drive wheel towards a direction in which he wishes to move. A suspension arrangement maintains a desired distribution of user load between the drive wheel and the stabilizer assembly. A combination of fixed-axis wheels with castered wheels provides angular anchoring of the stabilizer assembly to facilitate the seat steering process. The entire structure is preferably foldable for easy transportation and storage.

SUSPENSION FOR WHEELED VEHICLES
20180221225 · 2018-08-09 ·

A wheelchair suspension comprises a frame, at least one pivot arm, at least one front caster, at least one rear caster, a stabilizing system, and a sensor. The pivot arm is coupled to the frame. The front caster is coupled to the pivot arm. The rear caster is coupled to the frame. The stabilizing system is coupled to the frame and the pivot arm. The sensor is arranged such that tipping of the frame causes actuation of the stabilizing system to at least partially resist further movement of the frame.

SWING ARM ASSEMBLY FOR A MID-WHEEL DRIVE WHEELCHAIR
20180214325 · 2018-08-02 ·

The present disclosure relates to a swing arm assembly (1) for a mid-wheel drive wheelchair (21), comprising: a front swing arm (3) having a front swing arm pivot point (3a), a drive assembly swing arm (5) having a drive assembly swing arm pivot point (5a) and a resilient member first mounting point (5b), a rear swing arm (7) having a rear swing arm pivot point (7a) and a resilient member second mounting point (7b), and a resilient member (9) configured to be connected to the resilient member first mounting point (5a) and to the resilient member second mounting point (7a) to enable force transfer between the drive assembly swing arm (5) and the rear swing arm (7).

STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM

Embodiments of a suspension for a vehicle is provided. The suspension includes, for example, a frame and a locking assembly. The locking assembly inhibits tipping of a frame of the vehicle when tipping of the frame is detected.

Autonomous Movement System
20180164829 · 2018-06-14 ·

A movable object includes a sensing device for detecting traveling-route reflector on a travel surface so that a region outside a floor projection region of the movable object, in particular the traveling-route reflector forward, can be detected. Detecting the traveling-route reflector across a wide range of areas allows traveling control, such as gradual deceleration before entering a curve, speed regulation based on a turning radius at the curve so that centrifugal force on a rider or load is not too great. Also the movable object can detect a branch point or an intersection beforehand, decelerate, and notify the user for user's instruction regarding the traveling direction. Furthermore, for a movable object autonomously traveling with an item mounted thereon, a single sensing device detects the traveling-route reflector and also serves as a safety sensor for avoiding collision with any other objects therearound.
