METADATA ENRICHMENT WITH A KEYWORD DEFINITION EDITOR
A system, method, and computer-readable medium, including receiving a user-supplied expression for which a definition is sought; generating, in response to reception of the user-supplied expression, at least one suggested definition specifying a meaning for the user-supplied expression, the at least one suggested definition being generated based on, at least in part, a knowledge base of metadata associated with a data set; presenting the at least one suggested definition, as at least one keyword, to a user; receiving, in response to the presentation, an indication of one user-selected keyword from the at least one suggested definition; defining the user-selected keyword by at least one value; and persisting the defined user-selected keyword with the at least one value in the knowledge base for the data set.
Apparatus And Method For Information Retrieval
A topic list is presented to a user. Based upon the topic selection, one or more questions linked to the topic are retrieved automatically. Each question is linked to an optimized search. A topic and question selection from the user is received. The optimized search is retrieved based upon the question selection. Search results are received and presented to the user. The topics, questions and optimized searches are predefined without user input and stored in memory. Also, a handbook with chapters can be provided and updated automatically each time visited by a user without user input. Further, the search results can be automatically displayed in a predefined display format. The format can be predefined before execution of the optimized search by associating each optimized search query with a predesignated area on one or more display pages. Each search result can be associated with a different pixel or set of pixels.
RECOMMENDING DOCUMENTS SETS BASED ON A SIMILAR SET OF CORRELATED FEATURES
A method for recommending a plurality of alternate search keywords is provided. The method may include executing a first search query using a plurality of user-entered search text. The method may also include identifying a highest contribution keyword to a plurality of search results of the executed first search query. The method may further include identifying a highest correlation alternate keyword to the identified highest contribution keyword. The method may also include creating an alternate keyword group by replacing the identified highest contribution keyword with the identified highest correlation alternate keyword. The method may further include executing a second search query using the created alternate keyword group. The method may also include displaying the plurality of search results associated with the executed first search query with a plurality of statistics associated with the executed second search query.
Host-based intelligent results related to a character stream
Information may be presented to a user by using a first application to receive a character stream of one or more noncompletion characters. The noncompletion characters indicate that additional characters may be received. The character stream is exchanged with a host that analyzes the character stream to generate results that are responsive to the user's predicted interest. Results are received and displayed so that the user may select one of the results to launch a code segment related to the selected result.
System and method for near real-time identification and definition query
A method of operating a communication system includes generating a transcript of at least a portion of a conversation between a plurality of users. The transcript includes a plurality of subsets of characters. The method further includes displaying the transcript on a plurality of communication devices, identifying an occurrence of at least one selected subset of characters from the plurality of subsets of characters, and querying a definition source for at least one definition for the selected subset of characters. The definition for the selected subset of characters is displayed on the plurality of communication devices.
Multi-prefix query optimizations
The present invention includes systems and methods for retrieving information via a flexible and consistent targeted search model that employs interactive dynamic menu information retrieval techniques that provide context-specific functionality tailored to particular information channels, as well as to records within or across such channels, and other known state information. Users are presented with a consistent search interface among multiple tiers across and within a large domain of information sources, and need not learn different or special search syntax. A thin-client server-controlled architecture enables users of resource-constrained mobile communications devices to locate targeted information more quickly by entering fewer keystrokes and performing fewer query iterations and web page refreshes, which in turn reduces required network bandwidth.
Dynamic user interface for navigating user account data
A method for providing a dynamic user interface for navigating user account data is disclosed. The method includes: performing a first data transfer from a user account; updating an interaction model for the user account based on the first data transfer; receiving, from a client device associated with the user account, a query having at least one query term; determining, based on the interaction model and the at least one query term, that the query maps to a user intent associated with the first data transfer; and in response to determining that the query maps to a user intent associated with the first data transfer, providing, to the client device, a search result based on the first data transfer.
Context-Dependent Digital Action-Assistance Tool
A computer-implemented technique is described herein for facilitating a user's repeated execution of the same computer-implemented actions. The technique performs this task by determining patterns in the manner in which the user repeats requests associated with certain computer-implemented actions. For example, the technique determines context-dependent patterns in the manner in which the user submits search requests to a search system. The technique then leverages those patterns by proactively providing a request-assistance tool to the user in those context-specific circumstances in which the user is likely to perform the repetitive computer-implemented actions. The digital action-assistance tool provides various kinds of assistance to the user in performing the repetitive computer-implemented actions.
Record matching in a database system
A computer implemented method comprising processing the unstructured objects of each record of records of a database for identifying a set of one or more values of attributes in the unstructured objects of the each record. The sets of unstructured attribute values of two records of the database may be compared for determining a similarity level between the two sets. It may be determined whether the two records are representing a same entity based on the comparison result.
Searching for information based on generic attributes of the query
Searching information includes: receiving current query data from a client; extracting generic attribute features of the current query data, wherein the generic attribute features are used for calculating a plurality of confidence degrees of the current query data that correspond to a plurality of categories, each of the confidence degrees indicating a degree of confidence that the current query data belongs to a respective one of the plurality of categories; determining the plurality of confidence degrees of the current query data based at least in part on the generic attribute features; selecting a category based at least in part on the plurality of confidence degrees, the selected category being one of the plurality of categories and having a confidence degree higher than a confidence degree of another category; searching in the selected category for a search result that corresponds to the current query data; and returning the search result.
