Wheelchair drive boost apparatuses, drive assisted wheelchairs, and wheelchair drive boost systems are disclosed. A wheelchair drive boost apparatus includes a housing, a drive wheel including a drive axis that is movable with respect to the housing, a drive lever that engages with the drive wheel to cause the drive wheel to rotate, a transmission that couples the drive lever to the drive wheel, and an engager having a first position and a second position. The engager is configured to move the drive axis with respect to the housing.

The engager is configured to move the drive axis with respect to the housing.

ELECTRICALLY POWER ASSISTED WHEELCHAIR AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING ELECTRICALLY POWER ASSISTED WHEELCHAIR
An electrically power assisted wheelchair includes a hand rim, a wheel that is rotated by receiving a torque applied to the hand rim, and a drive controller configured or programmed to apply auxiliary power to the wheel based on the torque applied to the hand rim. The drive controller is configured or programmed to decelerate rotation of the wheel when the wheel is rotating and no torque is applied to the hand rim in a brake mode in which a brake torque acting in a direction reverse to a rotation direction of the wheel is applied to the wheel.
MOTORIZED ACCESSORY FOR A WHEELCHAIR
A motorized accessory for a wheelchair includes a housing having a top end and a bottom end, a handlebar assembly secured to the top end of the housing, and a wheel assembly coupled to the lower end of the housing. The motorized accessory also includes an electric motor coupled to the wheel assembly that is configured to drive the wheel assembly. In addition, the motorized accessory includes a tow bar assembly having a proximal end coupled to the housing and extending outward to a free distal end, where the free distal end is configured to be removably coupled to the wheelchair. The motorized accessory is configured to latch to the manually driven wheelchair in order to convert the manually driven wheelchair into a motorized wheelchair.

This relates to a propulsion attachment for a manual wheelchair and methods of operation. The propulsion attachment can include three wheels, a motor, a gearbox, and a handlebar. The propulsion attachment can attach to the footrest of the wheelchair using a pin. The motor can be located in the rear side of the propulsion attachment and can push the user in a forward direction. Alternatively, the user can manipulate a switch located on the handlebar to allow the propulsion attachment to pull the user in a reverse direction. The propulsion attachment can include a plurality of brakes, where each brake can control one of the wheels. Additionally, the propulsion attachment can operate at variable speeds using the motor and the power from one or both batteries.
