SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CUSHION INFLATION
A system includes a client application executed by a client computing device for setting up an inflation level and checking an inflation level of an inflatable cushion having at least one air cell or zone and at least one pressure sensor within the cushion that detects air pressure. The client computing device communicates with the inflatable cushion and determines an optimal inflation level for a user of the inflatable cushion.
Dynamic Support Apparatus
A dynamic support apparatus. The dynamic support apparatus includes a cushion, at least one actuator wherein the at least one actuator defines an interior volume and wherein the interior volume may be configured to be at least partially filled with a fluid, and a support disposed in the interior volume wherein the support configured to support an occupant when the interior volume is not filled with the fluid such that the support is sufficient to support the occupant.
APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR DYNAMICALLY CORRECTING POSTURE
An orthopedic device for improving posture while sitting, having a foundation member including a front portion for upper legs and a bowl portion for lower pelvic area. The bowl portion has a central portion and an upwardly inclined lateral portion. The lateral portion and the front portion collectively surround the central portion. A channel attachment is connected with one or more pelvic crest portions. The channel attachment portion connects over a concave recessed portion. The central portion has plural regions of varying flexibility and the lateral portion has plural regions of varying flexibility.
MULTI-LAYERED CUSHIONING SUPPORT
Multi-layer cushion supports are described which may generally comprise a first support having a first contact surface for contacting a portion of a body and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the first support defining a central chamber and a peripheral chamber surrounding the central chamber, wherein the first support is filled with a first gas or liquid and a second support attached to the first support along the first contact surface. The second support may be filled with a second gas or liquid which is relatively more viscous than the first gas or liquid. In particular, the first support may be filled with a volume of air and the second support may be filled with oil which is less than the volume of air.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATING AND PREVENTING PRESSURE SORES IN BEDRIDDEN PATIENTS
A system for preventing and treating pressure sores of a bed-ridden patient including an array of expandable and collapsible supports to support and provide pressure relief to a patient in pressure locations where the expandable and collapsible supports support the patient; pressure sensors associated with the expandable and collapsible supports to monitor pressure locations where the expandable and collapsible supports support the patient; and a patient lift movable between the expandable and collapsible supports to raise and lower the patient between at least a position where the patient is primarily supported by the array of expandable and collapsible supports and a position above the expandable and collapsible supports where the patient is primarily supported by the patient lift.
Adjustable anatomical support and seat cushion apparatus for wheelchairs
An adjustable anatomical support and seat cushion apparatus for wheelchairs according to some embodiments of the disclosure includes a base member formed of at least one layer of a thermoplastic honeycomb material, a generally rectangular, resilient cushion member formed of upper, intermediate and lower layers of thermoplastic honeycomb material which are bonded together, and at least one pad removably insertable into a pocket in the lower layer. The base member is pivotally attached to the cushion member. The cushion member is rotatable between a non-parallel disposition and a parallel disposition relative to the base member. An open end of the pocket faces the base member when the cushion member is in the parallel disposition.
Support platform for seating appliance
A support arrangement and corresponding method, is provided for supporting a user in a seated invalid appliance, the arrangement comprising a support member and at least one reconfigurable connection arrangement arranged to enable connection of the support member to the appliance and the application an adjustable tensile load to the support member. The connection arrangement may comprise a bridging element configured to extend between the support member and the appliance, such as a clip or hook. The hook or clip may be S-shaped or C-shaped in cross section. The connection arrangement may be received in an aperture or recess provided in the support member and/or the appliance to bridge the gap there between. The invention is particularly suited for use with wheelchairs or seated sports appliances for a disabled user.
Dynamic Load-Absorbing Materials and Articles
A double-shell helmet is disclosed. The double-shell helmet includes an outer shell, an impact absorbing material layer affixed to the outer shell on a first side of the impact absorbing material layer, an inner shell affixed to the impact absorbing material layer on a second side of the impact absorbing material layer opposite the first side of the impact absorbing material layer, and a foam layer affixed to the inner shell.
Patient contact compensating wheelchair
This patent pertains to patient contact compensating wheelchairs. One implementation includes a motorized base that includes a battery and a seat positioned above the base. In one instance, the seat can include a moisture permeable structure configured to support a patient and a fan configured to move air below the moisture permeable structure to carry moisture from the patient away from the moisture permeable structure. Another implementation includes a set of patient contact objects configured to alternatively contact first and then second portions of an underside of the moisture permeable structure so that at a first time more of the patient's weight is supported at the first portion than at the second portion and at a second time more of the patient's weight is supported at the second portion than at the first portion, to relieve contact pressure of the patient.
OVERLAY
The invention provides an overlay configured to substantially conform to a contoured surface. The overlay comprises at least a first layer having a rear surface on which a plurality of channels are located. Optionally, the overlay also comprises one or more removable contouring members, which are located between adjacent channels on the rear surface of the overlay.
