ACTIVE PRESSURE RELIEVING SYSTEM
A pressure relief system for use with a wheelchair includes a backrest support including a plurality of backrest cells. The backrest cells include a base which includes a plurality of air ports, a cover in connection with the base, and resilient elements within an interior of the backrest cells. The pressure relief system-further includes a seat support including a plurality of seat cells. The seat cells includes a base which includes a plurality of air ports, a cover in connection with the base, and resilient elements within an interior of the seat cells. The pressure relief system also includes a source of pressurize air in fluid connection with the air ports of each of the backrest cells and with the air ports of the seat cells via which the resilient elements within the backrest cells and the resilient elements within the seat cells are fluidizable.
Medical rehabilitation chair with sitting and reclining angle adjustment mechanism
A medical rehabilitation chair includes a main frame, multiple castor devices mounted on the bottom of the main frame, and two armrest boards mounted on two sides of the main frame. A telescopic damping driver, a seat frame assembly, a backrest frame assembly, a leg support assembly, a lifting mechanism, and a foot support assembly are assembled on the main frame. The seat frame assembly has a front section connecting the leg support assembly and a rear section connecting the backrest frame assembly. The telescopic damping driver drives the backrest frame assembly, the seat frame assembly, and the leg support assembly, to produce different swinging angles. The lifting mechanism drives the seat frame assembly to lift or lower. The foot support assembly is movable in a horizontal direction to protrude from the front section of the main frame.
A CUSHION
A problem with many known cushions is that they provide insufficient cushioning on account of their internal padding being prone to undesirably moving out of position when pressed on by the weight of the person using them. In preferred embodiments the invention addresses this by way of a cushion 1 that has at least two compartments 2 separated by a wall 3. Each compartment has one or more bladder 5, each of which has a partial fill of fluid that takes up 5%-35% of the volumetric capacity of the bladder. The cushion is formed such that it can be opened to access the bladders and subsequently closed. The cushion also formed so that when it is closed the bladders are not able to move into a neighbouring one of the compartments due, at least in part, to the wall.
SEAT SYSTEM
A seat system for a wheelchair. The seat system comprises: a left-thigh support comprising an upper-thigh support part and a lower-thigh support part; and a right-thigh support comprising an upper-thigh support part and a lower-thigh support part; wherein the lower-thigh support part of the left-thigh support is separate to the lower-thigh support part of the right-thigh support, and either the upper-thigh support part or the lower-thigh support part of each of the left- and right-thigh supports comprises one or more first engagement members and the other of the upper-thigh support part or the lower-thigh support part of each of the left- and right-thigh supports comprises two or more second engagement members, each of the first engagement members being received or receivable between two of the two or more second engagement members such that the one or more first engagement members and the two or more second engagement members are configured to cooperate with one another in a slidable relationship, such that a length of each of the left- and right-thigh supports is adjustable.
