POINT OF SALE SYSTEM
A point-of-sale system is a dual-screen stand assembly that includes a merchant terminal and a consumer terminal. The merchant terminal and the consumer terminal can be mated together in a fixed position to form a single unitary stand, or can be separated from each other in a separated position with each terminal serving as its own separate stand. The merchant terminal supports a merchant computing device and is oriented in a merchant-facing direction. The consumer terminal is detachably mated to the merchant terminal and supports a consumer computing device that is oriented in a consumer-facing direction. The point-of-sale system also includes a card reader as part of the customer terminal to perform a payment. The card reader is configured to accepting swipe cards, chip cards or contactless (EMV or NFC) payments.

Cards and devices with magnetic emulators with zoning control and advanced interiors
A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to act as a magnetic stripe read-head detector and a data transmitter. A multiple layer flexible PCB may be fabricated to include multiple magnetic emulators. An emulator may include a coil that includes magnetic, ferromagnetic, or ferromagnetic, material in the coil's interior. Coils may be associated with zones. As a read-head is detected to move from zone-to-zone, coils may be activated to transmit information in those zones.
System for securing a magnetic card reader, corresponding magnetic card reader and electronic device
A system for securing a magnetic card reader, including a surface-mounted magnetic reader head, via at least one mounting end, on a flexible printed circuit. The flexible printed circuit includes: at least one first layer for transporting analogue signals of the magnetic reader head; at least one layer having a plurality of tracks connected to the ground, called ground layer, covering the analogue signals of the first layer; and at least one dynamic security layer covering the ground layer.
READER DEVICE AND IDENTIFICATION DEVICE
An input and output controller transmits timing signals respectively to sensor modules based on unit conveyance distances of the respective sensor modules and a predetermined order of the sensor module. The sensor modules reads, in response to the timing signals, identification information included in an object and respectively generates read data and. The input and output controller acquires the read data respectively generated by the sensor modules and respectively outputs the read data in the predetermined order.
METHOD FOR ESTIMATING A QUANTITY OF A BLOOD COMPONENT IN A FLUID RECEIVER AND CORRESPONDING ERROR
A method and system for communicating estimated blood loss parameters of a patient to a user, the method comprising: receiving data representative of an image, of a fluid receiver; automatically detecting a region within the image associated with a volume of fluid received at the fluid receiver, the volume of fluid including a blood component; calculating an estimated amount of the blood component present in the volume of fluid based upon a color parameter represented in the region, and determining a bias error associated with the estimated amount of the blood component; updating an analysis of an aggregate amount of the blood component and an aggregate bias error associated with blood loss of the patient, based upon the estimated amount of the blood component and the bias error; and providing information from the analysis of the aggregate amount of the blood component and the aggregate bias error, to the user.
Card reader and card reader control method
A card reader for use with a card having an integrated circuit (IC) chip may include a magnetic head configured to read magnetic data on the card; an IC sensor configured to read and write IC data from and to the IC chip on the card; a magnetic data discrimination unit configured to determine the presence of the magnetic data on the card according to whether or not the magnetic data has been read by the magnetic head when the inserted card has been transported to a rear side from a leading end up to a predetermined position; and an IC reading controller configured to, if the magnetic data discrimination unit determines that the magnetic data is not present on the card, perform control to transport the card to a front side and control the IC sensor to read the IC data on the IC chip.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD
An information processing apparatus includes a first area being a security protection area in the information processing apparatus; a second area being outside the security protection area in the information processing apparatus; a first processor arranged in the first area; a second processor arranged in the second area and connected to the first processor; a reader arranged in the first area and connected to the first processor; and a speaker arranged in the second area and connected to the second processor. The first processor acquires a read information from the reader and sends an information on a payment processing related the payment to the second processor. The second processor sends a payment sound information which is a sound related to the payment to the speaker based on the payment processing, and the speaker outputs the payment sound based on the payment sound information.
TAMPER DETECTION BASED ON FLEXIBLE MEMBER CONNECTING CIRCUITRY ELEMENTS
A point of sale (POS) device includes tamper detection circuitry in which one or more flexible members that each include multiple side-by-side conductive traces connect two circuit boards, optionally so that one circuit board must remain very close to the other if the device remains in a secure un-tampered-with state. Severance of a trace of the flexible member, or disconnection of the flexible member from either circuit board, may result in unexpected voltage sensor readings indicative of a tamper attempt.
Cards and devices with multifunction magnetic emulators and methods for using same
A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable of communicating information to a magnetic stripe reader. Information used in validating a financial transaction is encrypted based on time such that a validating server requires receipt of the appropriate encrypted information for a period of time to validate a transaction for that period of time. Such dynamic information may be communicated using such an emulator such that a card may be swiped through a magnetic stripe reader—yet communicate different information based on time. An emulator may receive information as well as communicate information to a variety of receivers (e.g., an RFID receiver).
