Modified connector for accepting multiple forms of data storage cards

A connector component for use in an electronic device for concurrently accepting multiple forms of data storage cards. The connector component comprises a housing shell, a housing shell support, a plurality of contacts, and a tray. The housing shell support includes a flexible bilateral surface with a first side that is coupled to the housing shell. In response to a force from an inserted data storage card, the housing shell support temporarily recoils, thereby decreasing an area between the housing shell and the housing shell support. The plurality of contacts is coupled to an exposed surface of the housing shell support. The plurality of contacts interconnects with a corresponding electrical contact on each inserted data storage card for electronically transferring electronic data. The tray has a capacity to hold at least three different forms of data storage cards for a concurrent insertion into a cavity of the connector component.

A portable electronic device includes a housing member defining at least a portion of a side surface of the portable electronic device, a subscriber identity module (SIM) tray extending through a hole defined through the housing member and movable between a seated position and an at least partially ejected position, a tray ejector arm configured to at least partially eject the SIM tray from the portable electronic device in response to a user actuation, and a biasing member configured to bias the tray ejector arm against the SIM tray when the SIM tray is in the seated position.

A magnetic card reader is provided and includes the holder which is movable both in the card-inserting direction and the card-ejecting direction in the card pathway. The magnetic card is held in the holder which is energized in the card-ejecting direction. Therefore, when the card latch lever is retracted, the auto eject operation of the magnetic card is implemented. The distance between the card-receiving surface on the holder positioned in the insertion-waiting position and the reading-writing position in the X direction is longer than the length from the edge of the magnetic card on the back side X2 to the edge of the magnetic data recording range on the front side X1. Therefore, the magnetic card is prevented from hitting the card-receiving surface and therefore from receiving impact while the magnetic data recording range on the magnetic card is passing the reading-writing position.

A SIM card carrier includes a connector, an ejecting mechanism, and a tray. The connector includes a cavity having an open end, a closed end, a top side, and a bottom side. The ejecting mechanism includes a first resilient member and a movable arm. The first resilient member is disposed on the closed end of the cavity, the movable arm is disposed on the bottom side of the cavity. The tray includes a holder having a notch at a side and the movable arm engages the notch. The tray is held in the cavity when the notch is engaged, and the tray is ejected from the connector by the first resilient member when the movable arm disengages from the notch.

A card holder is used for an electronic device having a housing, and is able to accommodate a data card and be inserted into the housing. The card holder includes a card tray and a card cover. The card tray is configured to accommodate the data card. The card cover is connected to the card tray, is rotatable relative to the card tray, and includes a first end and a second end opposite to each other and a first protrusion extending towards the card tray. When the card holder is in a state of being inserted into the housing and a pushing force is applied to the first end, the card cover is rotatable about the first protrusion such that the first end extends further into the housing and the second end extends out of the housing. An electronic device is also provided.

A stem ejectable component assembly for electronic devices does not use a pin or needle to eject the tray holder. The assembly includes a receiving housing coupled to a SIM/MMC tray, a front plate, and a stem. The front plate incorporates slider pins that slide out to engage with recesses in the support frame of the electronic device to lock the assembly. The slider pins have inner ends that abut the stem and hold the stem in a pushed-in position. The slider pins also incorporate profiled protrusions that engage with ball pins fixed to the receiving housing. When the front plate is pushed inward, the profiled protrusions cause the slider pins to move outwards and release the stem to project out of the front plate. Pulling the stem causes the slider pins to slide in and disengage from the recesses in the support frame to enable withdrawal of the assembly.

An electronic device comprising: a device housing; an electronic card assembly disposed in said device housing and comprising: a card housing configured with a housing opening; a card tray having a card receiving space for accommodating an electronic card, said card tray being slidably displaceable between a closed position in which it is at least partially disposed within the card housing, and an open position in which it projects from the card housing to an extent greater than in said closed position; a locking mechanism configured between a locked state in which said card tray is arrested in its closed position and an unlocked state in which the card tray is free to be displaced; a driving mechanism configured for displacing the card tray at least from its closed position into its open position; and a control unit in communication with the locking mechanism and with the driving mechanism, said control unit configured for outputting an unlocking signal to the locking mechanism, thereby changing the state of the locking mechanism from its locked state to its unlocked state; and a driving signal to the driving mechanism, thereby displacing the card tray from its closed position into its open position.
