MITIGATION OF PRINT BANDING USING A SINGLE USER-CONTROLLABLE PARAMETER

A method of correcting print banding in a printer, including initiating the banding correction process, generating prints with various levels of banding based on different levels of voltages applied to the array of jets, receiving an input from the user selecting the preferred print, and adjusting voltage levels applied to jets corresponding to the preferred print.

Image forming apparatus calculating movement of recording medium

An image forming apparatus includes: a conveying path on which a recording medium is conveyed; an image capturer that includes a light source and radiates light from the light source to capture the recording medium being conveyed at different timings to generate at least two images including a first image and a second image; and a movement amount calculator that calculates a movement amount of the recording medium between capturing timings of the first and second images, wherein the movement amount calculator: calculates an index distance which is a distance in a conveying direction of a pattern formed by reflected light from the recording medium; calculates a ratio between the index distance and a reference distance used for comparison with the index distance; and calculates a movement amount of the recording medium between the capturing timings of the first and second images.

In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a main scanning counter, a controller, and an interval determination section. The main scanning counter counts a first count value indicating the number of times a synchronization signal for synchronization between the apparatuses is input to itself, and registers the first count value to an initial value if a main scanning reference signal indicating a progress state of exposure in a main scanning direction is input to itself. The controller generates PreHSYNC generated at the same interval as the main scanning reference signal. The interval determination section determines that an abnormality occurs in the main scanning reference signal if the first count value satisfies a predetermined condition at a timing at which the PreHSYNC is input to itself.

Plural write control units independently control plural print mechanisms corresponding to plural toner colors. A controller stores a setting value for each page into a first memory area. Plural second memory areas respectively correspond to the plural write control units. Further, one write control unit among them transfers the setting value from the first memory area to the second memory area of this write control unit, and applies the setting value stored in the second memory area and causes the corresponding print mechanism to print a page image. Another write control unit among them transfers the setting value to the second memory area of this write control unit from the second memory area of another write control unit among them, and applies the setting value stored in the second memory area and causes the corresponding print mechanism to print a page image.

A recording apparatus includes a head including a wire and performing recording on a medium by allowing the wire to strike the medium, a temperature detection unit that detects a temperature of the head, a driving circuit for driving the wire, and a control unit that controls an energization state of the driving circuit. The control unit switches the energization state of the driving circuit between an ON state and an OFF state at each time determined by the control unit, based on the temperature detected by the temperature detection unit such that a current flowing in the driving circuit is kept constant, when the head performs recording on the medium.
