Methods for identifying and generating a preview set of documents for use with variable data printing operations reduce the number of records that are previewed using filtering criteria. Records to be included in the preview set include text objects having text variables, image objects having image variables, and barcode objects having barcode variables. Records for the preview set also include those defined by rules and associated conditions based on data provided to generate the documents. A better representation of the variable data print job is provided.

A liquid discharging apparatus includes: a head having nozzles; and a controller. The controller executes: a first recording processing of discharging liquid from the nozzles with respect to a first area of a recording medium, based on first image data, and a second recording processing of discharging the liquid from the nozzles with respect to a second area, of the recording medium, which overlaps with or is adjacent to the first area based on second image data, after a predetermined time has elapsed since the first recording processing. An image forming apparatus includes: a storage device that stores font data including a character code and outline data in association with the character code, the outline data being used to render a character specified by the character code; and a text processing unit configured to obtain, from the font data, the outline data in association with the character code included in the printable data, and a character rendering unit configured to process the outline data by changing a coordinate of a stroke, thickness of each line, and/or an interval between characters to thereby create processed outline data, the stroke being a center line of each line included in an object of the character rendered by using the outline data, and render an object of the character by using the processed outline data to thereby render the character specified by the same character code as a different object.

In a printing apparatus provided with a controller configured to perform a RIP process, when a fixed-width font is determined to be used as a substitute font for a target character to be printed and when a glyph width of the target character is smaller than a fixed width, and a glyph width of the target character is larger than a width of a bounding box of the glyph of the target character expressed by the fixed-width font, the controller is configured to arrange, in the RIP process, the target character expressed by the fixed-width font such that the width of the bounding box is arranged within the glyph width.

A color printing system uses color printing management tiers to control color printing resources at a printing device. The color printing management tiers include a media type color management tier, an ink limited calibration tier, and a calibration and ICC profile creation tier. A print job includes a parameter that is used to select the management tier for color conversion operations for the print job. The parameter can include an attribute or a media type for the print job. The applicable tone reproduction curve (TRC) or ICC profile is retrieved according to the selected management tier. The TRC or ICC profile is adjusted according to an input applicable to the respective management tier. The TRC or ICC profile also is selected from a plurality of TRCs or ICC profiles, respectively.

The instructions instruct a computer to perform processes including an acquisition step and a color chart creation step. The acquisition step includes acquiring a specified color. The color chart creation step includes creating a color chart in which a plurality of color patches are arranged. The color chart creation step includes creating a first color chart and a second color chart. The first color chart is the color chart based on first print settings of the printer. An apparatus includes: a communication interface configured to receive printable data including a character code; and a controller circuitry configured to operate as a font module including font data and a font data supplying unit, the font data including a character code and multiple different outline data in association with the character code, each of the multiple different outline data being used to render a character specified by the character code, the font data supplying unit being configured to supply one outline data to the text processing unit, a text processing unit configured to obtain the one outline data from the font data supplying unit out of the multiple different outline data in association with the character code included in the printable data, and a character rendering unit configured to render the character specified by the character code included in the printable data by using the one outline data.

A user device constructs a custom color table for an imaging device and transmits the custom color table to a computing device. The computing device digitally signs the custom color table constructed at the user device. The digitally signed custom color table is deployed to the imaging device. The imaging device processes an image using the using the digitally signed custom color table.
