A printing system and method of printing are provided herein. The printing system may generate custom user designs for printing. The designs may be associated with a selected print medium. The print medium may have a particular layout. The printing system may convert the design for printing on other print media without requiring user alteration or input of the design. In another aspect, the printing system may facilitate printing the designs via local printers and/or via professional printers. Accordingly, printing of designs on different print-receptive media items can be accomplished.

A printer includes a print engine, a processor, and a memory. The print engine is configured to print an image on a print medium. The memory stores instructions, the instructions, when executed by the processor, causing the printer to perform: in a case where a plurality of layers is included in a document file that is acquired from one of a storage medium connected to the printer and an apparatus configured to communicate with the printer, determining whether the plurality of layers includes a selection target layer that is a layer corresponding to a same language as a language indicated by language information acquired from an information source; in response to determining that the plurality of layers includes the selection target layer, determining a layer including the selection target layer as a print target layer; and controlling the print engine to print the print target layer.

Certain examples described herein relate to the embedding a pattern in an output content having at least two-dimensions, for example a printed output. Content data having at least two dimensions is processed to generate an array of spatial elements, each spatial element corresponding to a respective location in the output content and comprising a probabilistic distribution for a set of output material compositions. A threshold matrix is generated using pattern data corresponding to a pattern, and the array of spatial elements is halftoned using the threshold matrix. The threshold matrix is generated such that the pattern is embedded in the output content.

A bitmap processing system for creating digital documents on a digital printing press by a fulfiller includes a fulfiller operated raster image processor that receives customer application Page Description Language (PDL) job files containing information for creating the digital documents and generates bitmaps in accordance with the files and a fulfiller operated editor that modifies the bitmaps so that the resulting documents process more efficiently in production steps downstream of a printing process.

The method for generating a final image for the printing thereof on a lenticular support includes an acquisition of a first file including a plurality of images; an automatic extraction of a determined number of images of the first file as a function of a maximum number of images to extract, the images being ordered according to a first order; a redimensioning of the images as a function of a parameter of density of lenses per unit surface area of a predefined printable support, called the pitch; an interlacing of the extracted images; and a generation of a final image to be printed on a lenticular support.

Output devices or systems, such as televisions, speakers, projectors, or output controllers, are herein disclosed and enabled for wirelessly receiving digital content from a digital content service or from an information apparatus. The disclosed output device includes wireless communication circuitry and an interface. To set up the output device for receiving and playing the digital content, the output device first receives, via the interface, security information, and then establishes a wireless local area network connection. Subsequent to having established the wireless local area network connection, the output device connects to a server over a network, using the wireless communication circuitry, for downloading and installing software applications or software components for upgrading or modifying the capabilities of the output device. Thereafter, the output device is setup for receiving the digital content from the information apparatus and from the service using the downloaded and installed software components.

An information processing apparatus to communicate with an external apparatus includes a reception unit, an execution unit, a setting unit, and a determination unit. The reception unit receives data described in Postscript from the external apparatus. The execution unit executes processing based on a command described in the data received by the reception unit. The setting unit performs a predetermined setting regarding execution of the processing. The determination unit determines, in a case where the reception unit receives data in which a command associated with a superexec operator is described, whether the execution unit executes the processing based on the command using the predetermined setting.

A print control apparatus includes a network interface to receive, from an external device, print job data including a plurality of ordered separate document files and two sequential serial page numbers in the plurality of ordered separate document files for specifying sequential target pages to be printed. The print job data has been generated and sent by the external device. One of the two sequential serial page numbers indicates, as an initial page, a page of one of the plurality of ordered document files, and the other of the sequential serial page numbers indicates, as a last page, a page of another one of the plurality of ordered document files. A rasterizer rasterizes at least the sequential target pages specified by the two sequential serial page numbers, and does not rasterize one or more pages of one or more document files that do not include the sequential target pages.
