A seat is disclosed herein having a backrest, a base for receiving a posterior of a human user, and an incline adjuster having a shaft, a lever, a follower, and a rack the shaft being moveable to swing the lever to cause a follower into or out of locking engagement with the rack, an arrangement being such that when the follower is in an unlocked disposition the rack can move to adjust an incline of the backrest and the base.

Design and build new models of wheelchair also design and build equipment for installing on some types of wheelchairs that are in the market for sale, that by using them user will be able to do their personal basic daily tasks without others help. This wheelchair includes a pair of lifting members mounted on said rehabilitation wheelchair for enabling said lifting members to move upward and downward and a moving seat mounted on said rehabilitation wheelchair for enabling user to sit on toilet bowl directly, wherein said moving seat being compressed and said lifting members moving user downward and user sitting on toilet for doing toilet. The user can use this system for changing clothes, washing, doing toilet, moving body vertically up and down, using oven for cooking, picking up materials from higher places that cannot be reached by user, and all actions that involve getting up and picking up.

A medical chair includes a base, a seat, and a leg rest pivotally mounted relative to the seat and adapted to move between an extended position and a retracted position. The chair further includes a first actuator for tilting the seat with respect to the base, a second actuator for lifting the seat with respect to the base, and a leg rest actuator adapted to move the leg rest. The chair also includes a controller adapted to control the first and second actuators to move the seat between a first position and a second position such that the seat is both lifted and tilted at the same time as the seat moves from the first position to the second position, and wherein the controller is adapted to control the leg rest actuator such that the leg rest maintains a substantially constant orientation with respect to the floor.

A supporting structure includes two pairs of legs and four wheels each arranged at a lower end of a respective one of the legs. Each leg includes an upper segment and a lower segment, and optionally a retractable leg extension segment for contacting ground instead of the corresponding wheel. Such supporting structure is adapted for producing a lowering motion while keeping the legs crossed on both lateral sides. Such supporting structure may be adapted for assisting a disabled person in travelling on the ground, and also possibly in climbing stairs.

In a preferred form the invention there is a lateral support forming part of a seat of a wheelchair, comprising a bracket (1), a hinge body (2), a forward plate (3) having padding and a lever (17). The lever (17) is arranged so it can be turned by hand to move a bolt (18) into a pin (5) whereby the hinge body is prevented from swinging about the pin. The lever (17) is also arranged so it can be subsequently turned by hand to cause a cam face (21) of the lever to ride along a complimentary engaging surface (22) of the hinge body. This forces the bolt (18) from the pin (5) thereby freeing the hinge body (2) to swing about the pin (5) and, as a consequence, to swing the plate (3) to facilitate access to the seat.

A seat assembly for a mobility scooter has a seat portion for supporting an operator of the mobility scooter in use and a yoke arranged to receive the seat portion. The yoke has a mounting formation for mounting to a support member of the mobility scooter such that the yoke is removably mounted atop the support member and the seat portion is removably mounted atop the yoke in use. The yoke also has an attachment formation for releasable attachment of an arm-rest and a back-rest for the seat portion. The seat portion can be lifted off the yoke as a first component. The yoke can be lifted off the support member as a further component when removing the seat assembly from the mobility scooter

A conveyance to carry humans, such as a wheelchair, is described having levers on each side of the wheelchair that are manually moved forward and backward to propel the conveyance. The levers are connected to a tooth clutch mechanism that allow the user to shift into forward, reverse or neutral, brake, and change mechanical advantage (gear ratio), all this without removing the user's hands from the drive levers.

A resilient backrest dampening mechanism is provided for use with chairs having a seat and a backrest, the mechanism comprising four pivot points; a first pivot point arranged on a base different from the backrest; a second pivot point arranged at a distance from the first pivot point on the base, wherein a bracket is pivotally connected to the second pivot point; a third pivot point provided between the bracket and a first end of a backrest connection member, and the backrest connection member being adjustably connected to the backrest; a fourth pivot point provided in the bracket; a resilient member arranged between the fourth pivot point and the first pivot point, and wherein all the pivot points pivot around corresponding axes and all of the axes are parallel.

A chairback support structure includes: a back element having a plurality of insertion holes; a plurality of resilient bend plates each having a bendable portion, two insertion portions extending from two ends of the bendable portion, respectively, and two abutting portions disposed at two ends of the bendable portion, respectively, the two insertion portions being insertable into the insertion holes of the back element, and the two abutting portions being adapted to abut against the back element; and a pad for covering the back element and the resilient bend plates.
