For a consumer to establish ownership or indication of ownership of the item, the consumer scans and registers the code outside the border of the shop, whereby the status code attribute is changed to “sold” in the attribution control system, after which owner restricted services related to the item will be made available to the consumer.

A sensor-augmented two-dimensional barcode includes a layer provided on a substrate comprising a two-dimensional error-correcting barcode symbol. The bar code symbol further includes a barcode region, an empty region, and a dynamic region. The barcode region includes a plurality of modules in a static color state and the empty region has an area. Additionally, the dynamic region is provided on the substrate and positioned within the area of the empty region. The dynamic region includes a dynamic indicator having a chemistry that is configured, responsive to the occurrence of an environmental condition, to undergo a chemical or physical state change between an initial state and an end state, causing a change in the color state of the dynamic indicator. Additionally, the color state indicates exposure to the environmental condition.

A method for activating and/or deactivating the phosphorescence of a structure is disclosed. The structure may include a first and a second material, wherein a phosphor is admixed with the first material and oxygen is present in the region of the phosphor. The second material may be oxygen-impermeable at an ambient temperature and, in the oxygen-impermeable state, act as an oxygen barrier between the first material and a surrounding environment. To activate the phosphorescence, in a first activation step, oxygen present in the structure is photochemically deactivated by irradiating the structure with light of a first characteristic, and, in a second activation step, the phosphorescence is activated by irradiating the structure with light of a second characteristic. To deactivate the phosphorescence, oxygen is introduced into the structure by heating the structure and/or by irradiating the structure with light of a third characteristic.

The present disclosure describes writing information on substrate displays. In an example, a display on a substrate is interfaced. The interfacing includes constraining a first longitudinal side of the substrate via a first actuable slot. Further, a second longitudinal side of the substrate opposite to the first longitudinal side is constrained via a second actuable slot. Thereby the substrate is constrained between the first and second slot with the display positioned therebetween. Further, the display is operated to write information thereon via an imager while the substrate is constrained between the first and second slot.
