Person support apparatus with pivoting backrest

A chair includes a backrest that pivots with respect to the seat in a manner that improves the occupant's experience during the transition from an upright position to a reclined position. During pivoting of the backrest with respect to the seat, the backrest moves in a manner having an instantaneous center of rotation that does not remain stationary during the pivoting of the backrest. In some embodiments, the instantaneous center of rotation begins at a location lower than a height of the seat and moves backward as the backrest pivots from the upright position to the reclined position. The movement of the instantaneous center of rotation follows a smoothly curved path that has a continuous first derivative and, in some embodiments, continuous higher order derivatives as well. The movement may be effectuated via pins coupled to the backrest that ride in smoothly curved channels defined in a seat frame.

INCLINABLE LEG REST DEVICE FOR A WHEELCHAIR
20250064655 · 2025-02-27 ·

The inclinable leg rest device for a wheelchair having a wheeled frame to which a seat is attached includes a structure mounted pivotably on the frame in order for the user to be able to assume a position between two extreme positions of the legs being bent and the legs being straightened. The leg rest device also includes a board provided with pads for calf placement and slidably mounted on the pivoting structure so as to enable a lengthwise adjustment and an adaptation of the positioning of the pads. The board is slidably mounted on the pivoting structure through a curved guide path which is convex on the side that supports the legs.

MEDICAL REHABILITATION CHAIR WITH SITTING AND RECLINING ANGLE ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM
20250064211 · 2025-02-27 ·

A medical rehabilitation chair includes a main frame, multiple castor devices mounted on the bottom of the main frame, and two armrest boards mounted on two sides of the main frame. A telescopic damping driver, a seat frame assembly, a backrest frame assembly, a leg support assembly, a lifting mechanism, and a foot support assembly are assembled on the main frame. The seat frame assembly has a front section connecting the leg support assembly and a rear section connecting the backrest frame assembly. The telescopic damping driver drives the backrest frame assembly, the seat frame assembly, and the leg support assembly, to produce different swinging angles. The lifting mechanism drives the seat frame assembly to lift or lower. The foot support assembly is movable in a horizontal direction to protrude from the front section of the main frame.

TELESCOPIC INCLINABLE FOOTREST FOR A MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIR
20250057711 · 2025-02-20 ·

The telescopic inclinable footrest device for a motorized wheelchair includes a frame which pivots the structure of a legrest having a sliding plate. The structure is pivotably mounted so as to pivot between a deployed end position and a stowed end position. The pivoting and sliding the legrest are by a motor having a single cylinder rigidly attached to the structure and to the frame. A portion of the retraction stroke of the cylinder brings the structure into the stowed position while the extension of the retraction stroke of the cylinder generates the movement of a pulley borne by the rod of the cylinder over which passes a strap which connects the plate to the frame. The movement is suitable for shortening the path of the strap and thus deploying the plate.

Wheelchair leg covering
09629764 · 2017-04-25 ·

A leg covering adapted for use with a wheelchair. The present leg covering includes an outer covering having a closed end, an open end, and one or more straps positioned adjacently to the open end such that the covering can be secured to the armrests of a wheelchair once drawn over the user's legs. The leg covering further comprises a liner removably insertable therein, which provides an additional layer of insulating material for especially cold or otherwise inclement weather conditions. The outer covering additionally has a zipper disposed on the front portion thereof to provide other individuals with the ability to access to catheters, colostomy bags, or other such objects stored beneath the covering in a discrete manner. The liner has a front slit or opening aligned with the outer covering zipper so that it does not act as an impediment to accessing the internal volume of the covering.

MODULAR WHEELCHAIR SYSTEM

A convertible transport system including a seat portion and a wheeled portion that is couplable to the seat portion. The seat portion is reclinable whether or not coupled to the wheeled portion.

Operator Chair
20170055713 · 2017-03-02 · ·

An operator chair comprises: a connection portion; a first parallel arm linkage to which an adjustable seat module is connected, the first parallel arm linkage being rotatably connected to the connection portion and to an armrest; a first actuator for driving the first parallel arm linkage between a first position and a second position, and thereby regulating a seat portion of the seat module between a first, substantially horizontal position corresponding to a sitting position of a user, and a second, at least partially vertical position corresponding to an at least partially standing position of the user, respectively; a second parallel arm linkage rotatably connected to the static fundament and to the connection portion; and a second actuator for driving the second parallel arm linkage so as to regulate at least the vertical position of the connection portion relative to the fundament.

Transport wheelchair with pivot assist
12257195 · 2025-03-25 · ·

A transport wheelchair comprises a frame with a chair base movably carried by a wheel base displaceable on a set of wheels. A seat, a backrest and a legrest are carried by the chair base of the frame. The set of wheels comprises a pair of fixed wheels to rotate around a laterally-oriented rotational axis and to roll longitudinally. A pivot wheel is coupled to the frame and oriented perpendicular to the pair of fixed wheels and to rotate around a longitudinally-oriented rotational axis. The pivot wheel is selectively positionable between: an elevated position higher than a bottom of the pair of fixed wheels and off of the ground; and a lowered position lower than the bottom of the pair of fixed wheels with the pair of fixed wheels elevated off of the ground and the pivot wheel to roll laterally.

Elevated height wheelchair

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a wheelchair configured to reposition an occupant between a lowered and a raised position. The wheelchair can include a frame, a seat moveable relative to the frame, a drive wheel, and one or more pairs of arm assemblies. The arm assembly includes a wheel configured to move from a first spatial location when the wheel chair is operating on flat, level ground to a second spatial location that is different than the first spatial location. Arm limiters that can selectively engage the arm assembly dependent on the position of the arm assembly and surface conditions of ground and can limit the range of motion of the arm assembly and sometimes other operational aspects of the chair.
