Smart bed system
Described herein is a smart bed system, which includes a number of different elements that operate together or may operate independently in connection with an existing conventional bed frame and/or mattress. Bed system includes an inclinable bed apparatus, which is configured to be situated on an existing bed frame or mattress and provide selective inclining/reclining of a patient or user. A sensor mat system is adapted to be situated on mattress. Sensor mat system includes a plurality of different layers to sense the position and movement of a patient. An inflatable bladder system includes a plurality of inflatable cells for selectively adjusting the position or pressure experienced by a patient using bed system. A support rail system supports a user in a bed. A microcontroller performs various control and data processing operations associated with system. User input for various controls of system may be provided from a remote control, which is in data communication with microcontroller.
Bed Rail System
The disclosure describes and illustrates improvements to bed rails, to include easier assembly and lighting features. An embodiment of a bed rail ships to a user in four primary structural pieces, eliminating complicated user assembly. The present disclosure also describes a light bar disposed within the bed rail, with various lighting features. The improvements and inventions discussed herein provide a better user experience and increase the usability of the bed rail.
CONNECTION SYSTEM FOR MEDICAL BED COMPONENTS
A connection system may include a first receiver and second receiver extending through a first surface, wherein the first receiver comprises a first pin aligned with a first central axis of the first receiver. A second component having a second surface may be configured to abut the first surface, the second component comprising: a first support post extending outwardly from the second surface, wherein the first support post comprises a first distal end and a recess extending through the first distal end; and a second support post extending outwardly from the second surface, wherein the first support post is approximately parallel to the second support post, wherein the first receiver is configured to couple with the first support post when the first pin is at least partially inserted into the recess, and wherein the second receiver is configured to couple with the second support post.
COLLAPSIBLE SIDERAIL FOR A PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS
A siderail includes upper and lower siderail bodies, and a linkage assembly operatively connected thereto for guiding movement of the siderail between a deployed position and a stowed position. In the deployed position, the upper siderail body is disposed above the lower siderail body so that the siderail has a deployed height. In the stowed position, the lower siderail body is disposed at least partly laterally inwardly of the upper siderail body so that the siderail has a smaller stowed height. The linkage assembly includes: a first link pivotably connected to a frame connector; a second link pivotably connected to the first link; a third link pivotably connected to the second link and pivotably connected to the upper siderail body; and a fourth link pivotably connected to the frame connector and to the upper siderail body. The second and fourth links are ternary links that are connected to each other.
