Patient support systems with rotary actuators having cycloidal drives

A patient support system comprises a patient support apparatus for patients. The patient support apparatus comprises a support structure and a patient support surface supported by the support structure. The patient support apparatus also comprises movable members. One or more rotary actuators are coupled to the movable members. The rotary actuator comprises a gear assembly with a cycloidal drive arranged to drive movement of the movable member. The gear assembly also restricts back drive torque from backdriving the movable member.

Method of predicting occupant egress from an occupant support based on perimeter panel status and occupant location, and a related apparatus

A method of evaluating the likelihood that an occupant will exit an occupant support comprises determining if the location of the occupant on the occupant support is displaced relative to a reference location, and if the location of the occupant is so displaced, designating that the occupant is at a risk of exiting the occupant support which is elevated relative to the baseline risk. A support apparatus comprises a framework, a mattress, sensors distributed on the support apparatus to sense occupant weight distribution on the support apparatus, and a processor adapted to designate a risk of occupant egress as a function of the direction of the occupant weight distribution and the elevation status of the perimeter panels.

Hospital bed control and charting

A patient support apparatus, such as a hospital bed, communicates with an electronic medical record (EMR) system in healthcare facility. The hospital bed includes a patient support structure to support a patient, a graphical user interface coupled to the patient support structure, and control circuitry coupled to the graphical user interface. The graphical user interface displays at least one input that may be used by a caregiver to chart data into an electronic medical record (EMR) of a patient supported by the patient support structure.

Patient support usable with bariatric patients

There is provided a patient support that may be adjustable in height, width, length or a combination thereof. The patient support may be useable with normal sized patients or with bariatric patients. The patient support has a variety of features to enhance operability and/or functionality, including a width adjustable caster frame, width adjustable deck portions, a width adjustable headboard and an extendible foot board to provide extra length. An enhanced lift mechanism can accommodate bariatric patients and alternative functionality in achieving deck positions improves patient comfort. Various parts of the patient support including deck panels and the footboard may be removed and replaced with ease without complicated connectors.

Patient support usable with bariatric patients

A patient support includes a height adjustable patient support deck, at least one guard structure mounted for movement relative to the patient support deck, and a latch operable to lock the position of the guard structure in a raised position. The patient support further includes a CPR release operable to lower the head deck section of the patient support deck to place the patient support in an emergency state and further operable to release the latch to allow the guard rail structure to lower or be lowered from the raised position.

The patient bed with mattress and integrated bed pan includes a bed frame, mattress sections, and an integral bed pan. A midframe and mid mattress are removable to access to the bed pan. The frame and mattress sections may be pivoted to place the patient in a seated position. The bed pan may be located in a drawer under the midsection of the patient and may be retrieved after use by opening the drawer. A clean bed pan may be placed into an inclined bed by releasing it into a bed pan aperture and allowing it to slide through a guide track to the receiving compartment.

Patient support apparatuses with clocks

A patient support apparatus includes a frame, patient support surface, clock, transceiver, and controller. The transceiver communicates with a headwall and/or a local area network. The controller detects the occurrence of an event and sends a message to a server in communication with the local area network in response to the event. The controller updates its estimate of the local time based upon time data received from the server. The controller may also and/or additionally receive first and second time updates from two different sources. When received, the controller updates its estimate of local time based upon at least one of the following: (a) a comparison of its estimate of local time with the time data from the first source; and (b) a comparison of its estimate of local time with the time data received from the second source.

A patient support apparatus with a patient support surface, a first member, a movable member movable relative to the first member, and an actuator coupled to the movable member to move the movable member relative to the first member. The actuator includes motor and a gear assembly defining a through passage. The gear assembly has an input member, an output member connected to the movable member, and a gear arrangement operable between the input member and the output member. The motor is configured to apply torque to the input member to rotate the output member through the gear arrangement.

One embodiment is a slidable middle bar (FIG. 1A) that connects to the main rod (FIG. 2) which ultimately connects to the entire bed assist bar (FIG. 5). The slidable middle bar allows for an accurate fit for all of the different bed types. Once the accurate fit is achieved, then the user can utilize the bed assist bar to help them get in and out of bed. With the accurate fit to the bed, one achieves increased stability from proper perpendicularity of the handle to the ground. Other embodiments are described and shown.
