Exemplary embodiments may use a contactless card as a secondary form of authentication in a multi-factor authentication for a secure messaging service. The recipient party of a request to initiate a messaging service session (such as a server computing device) may be programmed to use the phone number of the originating device to look up records regarding an identity of a party and their associated phone number as a primary credential and then may require an authentication credential originating from the contactless card as a secondary credential for the initiating party. In some instances, the credential originating from the contactless card is a onetime password that is valid only for a period of time. The recipient party determines whether the onetime password is valid. If both credentials are valid, a secure messaging session may be initiated with the initiating party.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for conducting cardless payment transactions. One of the methods includes receiving from a first device of a first user a first message requesting a payment transaction with a second user. Using an identifier of the second user provided by the first device, sending a second message to a second device of the second user requesting approval of the transaction, wherein the second message includes an approval code. A third message is received from the second device. If the third message includes the provided approval code and is received within a threshold amount of time, the payment transaction is processed using account information received in the first message.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECONDARY ACCOUNT HOLDER PAYMENT DEVICE CONTROL

A computer-implemented system and method may allow primary account holders (e.g., parents) to select merchants along specific routes where a secondary account holder (e.g., child) would be able to use a payment device. Each of these merchants may be categorized to further allow a parent to approve or reject purchases with a particular merchant. Any attempt to consummate a financial transaction with such a device at a disallowed merchant or at a merchant outside the defined geo-zone would not go through and may trigger an alert message to the parent/primary account holder (e.g., an email, SMS, phone call, etc.). Furthermore, setting a threshold may enable a trigger to ask the parent for approval in case the child makes a transaction of an amount exceeding the threshold value.
