The user device selects a method of paying for the shopping basket on a first page of the merchant server; upon selection, the user device sends a payment request to a payment validation module, which is enriched with identification data of the user device; the user device receives a local authentication request message from the payment validation module over the mobile telephony network; on receiving the local authentication request message, the user device triggers execution of an operation of locally authenticating a user of the user device; the user device sends a local authentication response message to the payment validation module; and the user device is redirected by the payment validation module to a second page of the merchant server giving the result of the payment transaction.

An automated teller machine includes a near-field communication (“NFC”) device, a networking interface configured to communicate data via a network, a display device configured to present information to a customer, and an input/output device configured to exchange data with the customer. The automated teller machine further includes a processing circuit including a processor and a memory, the memory structured to store instructions that are executable by the processor. The instructions cause the processing circuit to establish an NFC session with a mobile device of the customer, the mobile device having a mobile wallet, the mobile wallet including an inactive payment token representing a payment card held by the customer. The instructions further cause the processing circuit to receive at least one authentication credential relating to the payment card from the customer, verify the at least one authentication credential, and activate the inactive payment token.

Tender data and the transaction data are sent to a service gateway, by the PIN pad terminal. The service gateway collects metadata from the tender data and the transaction data. The tender data is sent by the PIN pad terminal to the point-of-sale terminal, which sends the tender data and the transaction data to a merchant gateway for approval or denial of the tender data. The tender data sent to the POS may be encrypted. The service gateway may provide customer and merchant analytics based on the metadata, as well as perform security/fraud checks, BIN management, PIN pad management. Systems are also disclosed.

The Consumer's mobile device communicates with a Payment Platform, which communicates with a Merchant Transaction Server in order to process and complete the mobile transaction. The short code of the merchant can be displayed on any product or advertising medium.
