Apparatuses and Methods for Operating a Portable Electronic Device to Conduct Mobile Payment Transactions

Methods for operating a portable electronic device to conduct a mobile payment transaction at a merchant terminal are provided. The electronic device may verify that the current user of the device is indeed the authorized owner by requiring the current user to enter a passcode. If the user is able to provide the correct passcode, the device is only partly ready to conduct a mobile payment. In order for the user to fully activate the payment function, the user may have to supply a predetermined payment activation input such as a double button press that notifies the device that the user intends to perform a financial transaction in the immediate future. The device may subsequently activate a payment applet for a predetermined period of time during which the user may hold the device within a field of the merchant terminal to complete a near field communications based mobile payment transaction.

Prepaid, debit and credit card security code generation system

This invention is a comprehensive Dynamic Security Code (DSC) System (DSC System) that can change the security code of a prepaid, debit, or credit card (Payment Card). In an effort to thwart Card-Not-Present (CNP) fraud, the DSC System provides dynamic security code values (DSC Values) that have a limited use. The DSC Values provided by this DSC System can be calculated by various methodologies and can be used within existing standard payment card infrastructures. The DSC System can also be used with other form factors and in other environments not related to payments such as balance inquiries. The DSC Values can be calculated by a DSC Generator Server or on the card itself.

BOOKING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Secure authentication and delayed transaction processing for booking management systems is provided. Third-party services partner with booking management systems to aggregate and list offerings of the third-party services in a digestible display on a one-stop platform. A booking management system can manage the authentication of payment card information on behalf of any number of such third-party services. The booking management system can maintain and process authentication information associated with traveler payment cards, and provide virtual payment information to the third-party services for payment following chargeable events. The third-party services may later initiate a transactions using the virtual payment information, without being required to perform authentication processing on the traveler payment card information maintained by the booking management system.

Systems and Methods for Use in Facilitating Transactions to Payment Accounts
20180197174 · 2018-07-12 ·

Systems and methods are provided for use in facilitating payment account transactions. One exemplary method includes initially issuing, by a computing device, a transaction code to a communication device associated with a consumer for use in a transaction to a payment account by the consumer. The method then includes intercepting, by the computing device, an authorization request including a pseudo primary account number (PAN) for the consumer's transaction, where the pseudo PAN includes the transaction code, and identifying, by the computing device, a PAN for the payment account associated with the transaction code included in the pseudo PAN. The method further includes replacing, by the computing device, the pseudo PAN with the identified PAN for the consumer's payment account, and routing the authorization request with the PAN to an issuer of the consumer's payment account.

Financial transaction card data can be entered by providing a picture of the card to a server programmed with a text recognition algorithm. The server can perform text recognition on the image at the same time that a consumer enters additional required data, such as a zip code. The server can perform as much text recognition processing as possible in the time the consumer is entering the additional data. Once the additional data is received, a signal can be provided to the server indicating that the user is now waiting for results of the text recognition process, meaning the server should provide them as quickly as possible. Once text recognition results are received, a consumer can make a selection to identify a character which the text recognition algorithm did not sufficiently identify. Based on known account number constraints, the user selection can cause multiple characters to be identified.

ELECTRONIC PAYMENT DEVICE TRANSACTIONS

Performance and processing of a contactless transaction at an electronic payment device with a terminal of a transaction system is described. In the device, an account data set is prepared for use in contactless transactions. This account data set comprises user account details to identify a user account with an issuer for the user account and an indicator indicating that the contactless transaction is a customer not present (CNP) transaction. A contactless transaction is performed with the terminal using the contactless transaction account data set. In processing, transaction details of a contactless transaction are received and reviewed to determine whether the contactless transaction is indicated to be a customer present or a customer not present transaction. If the contactless transaction is indicated to be a customer present transaction, an issuing bank for the electronic payment device is notified. If the contactless transaction is indicated to be a customer not present transaction, the contactless transaction is processed as a customer not present transaction. Suitable apparatus is also described.

Integration of verification tokens with mobile communication devices

Apparatuses, methods, and systems pertaining to the verification of portable consumer devices are disclosed. In one implementation, a verification token is communicatively coupled to a computer by a USB connection so as to use the computer's networking facilities. The verification token reads identification information from a user's portable consumer device (e.g., credit card) and sends the information to a validation entry over a communications network using the computer's networking facilities. The validation entity applies one or more validation tests to the information that it receives from the verification token. If a selected number of tests are passed, the validation entity sends a device verification value to the verification token, and optionally to a payment processing network. The verification token may enter the device verification value into a CVV field of a web page appearing on the computer's display, or may display the value to the user using the computer's display.

A system and method for stand-in processing are provided. The system includes a processor and a memory unit communicatively coupled to the processor. The memory unit is configured to store transaction data received from an acquirer corresponding to a transaction made by a payment card. The processor is configured to determine data representing a point of sale (POS) entry mode of the transaction from the transaction data and, using one or more stand-in rules provided by an issuer of the payment card, process the transaction on behalf of the issuer based on the data representing the POS entry mode. Processing includes approving or declining the transaction.
