The digital wallet server function causes (650) a digital notification of the digital payment to a payee communication device (PD2) usable by the payee, storing (660) of the transaction data for later settlement; and subsequent initiation (670) of settlement of the digital payment based on the stored transaction data to cause release of funds from a balance of the payer account and addition of funds to a payee account (PA2) associated with the payee, wherein the deduction and addition of funds correspond to the payment amount.
