A mattress system with at least two inflatable bladders located within a tub compartment of a foam encasement is enclosed. The bladders are surrounded on all sides by foam layers and the bladders are inflated and deflated by a control unit. The control unit is positioned within the tub compartment near the foot of the mattress and centered between the two bladder assemblies. The control unit is adhered to the foam encasement.

The invention concerns a bedsore prevention device (20) designed to be equipped to a support element of a piece of receiving furniture. The prevention device (20) has a bearing surface (22), intended to be flush with a surface of the support element and to be in direct or indirect contact with a body part of the subject on which the subject is likely to develop bedsores, at least three electromechanical transducers arranged to urge the bearing surface (22) to move, the at least three transducers being arranged along the bearing surface (22), a control unit (26) for the at least three transducers, the control unit (26) being configured to control the at least three transducers to urge the bearing surface in a phase-shifted manner in order to simulate a mechanical traveling wave along the bearing surface.

Patient support

A patient support includes a conformable layer having a lattice of cells. Each cell having a base and extending to a top portion disposed opposite the base to form a column, and at least some of the cells within the lattice having a fluid passage extending from the base through the top portion of the cell. The patient support having a fluid flow path defined by a port connector configured to direct a fluid to a low air loss manifold, the low air loss manifold configured to direct and release the fluid towards the fluid passages of the conformable layer with the fluid passages configured to direct the fluid into a reduced zone having a surface area, and a spacer layer configured to receive the fluid in the reduced zone and disperse the fluid underneath a cover across a surface area larger than the surface area of the reduced zone.

Wheelchair cushion with adjustable/multi-stiffness fluid

A wheelchair cushion comprises a dual stiffness fluid. A cushion also comprises an ability to adjust fluid volume.

Apparatus and system for boosting, transferring, turning and positioning a patient

A patient positioning system for use with a patient on a bed includes an inflatable patient support device, and optionally, other components such as one or more wedges and/or an absorbent pad. The device includes top and bottom sheets, where the top sheet is connected to the bottom sheet to define a cavity, such that the top and bottom sheets form top and bottom walls of the cavity in use. The device further has passages extending from the cavity to an exterior of the device, through the bottom sheet, and gussets connected to the top and bottom sheets and extending across the cavity. The passages permit air to pass from the cavity to the exterior of the device and to flow between the bottom surface of the device and the surface supporting the device. Selective glide assemblies may be used to resist sliding of these components in certain directions.

Dynamic load-absorbing materials and articles

A double-shell helmet is disclosed. The double-shell helmet includes an outer shell, an impact absorbing material layer affixed to the outer shell on a first side of the impact absorbing material layer, an inner shell affixed to the impact absorbing material layer on a second side of the impact absorbing material layer opposite the first side of the impact absorbing material layer, and a foam layer affixed to the inner shell.
