A system and method are presented for using a plurality of data caches to increase the efficiency of a computing system in an e-commerce environment. Separate caches with distinct time-to-live values are created, one each for customer information, customer cart contents, and product pricing data. Product pricing is pre-analyzed using a pricing data engine that calculates multiple potential prices for a single item that is then stored in the product pricing data cache. This data can then be used in a variety of contexts to determine different pricing for the same product without requiring another request for product data from the pricing data engine. When a product is viewed during catalog browsing, all information needed to determine pricing for that particular user might be accessible from the data caches for fast processing.

Techniques and arrangements for performing data analysis in order to generate connections between merchants. For instance, a payment service may determine, based at least in part on transaction information, that a first customer conducted a first transaction at a first merchant followed a subsequent transaction at a second merchant. The payment service may further determine that a second customer conducted a second transaction at the first merchant followed by a subsequent transaction at a third merchant, Based on transaction information associated with the first transaction and the second transaction, the payment service may create a buyer profile including the first customer and second customer. Upon the payment service receiving a request to process a third transaction between the first merchant and the second customer, the payment service can generate a recommendation that the second customer conduct a subsequent transaction to the third transaction at the second merchant rather than the third merchant. The payment service can then send a electronic communication that includes the recommendation to the first merchant or the second customer.

A computer-implemented method for post-acquisition assessment matching may include: receiving interaction information associated with a completed interaction involving an item acquired for a first assessment, the interaction information including an item identifier associated with the acquired item and the first assessment; in response to receiving the interaction information, determining whether the item is available for a second assessment based on the item identifier; in response to determining the second assessment for the item, comparing the first assessment with the second assessment; and in response to determining that the first assessment is higher than the second assessment based on the comparison: adjusting the first assessment based on the second assessment; determining a finalized amount for the interaction based on the adjusted first assessment for the item; and causing completion of the interaction based on the finalized amount.

An online concierge system sends an order associated with a customer to a shopper for fulfillment at a store. The order specifies an ordered amount of an item. The online concierge system receives an image of a receipt for the order from the shopper after fulfillment of the order, applies an image processing algorithm to identify the item in the image of the receipt, and identifies a measured quantity within the image. The measured quantity represents an actual amount of the item purchased at the store. The online concierge system determines a difference between the actual amount and the ordered amount of the item, and determines an amount to be charged or reimbursed to the customer based in part on the difference between the actual amount and the ordered amount of the item.

An automated store for storing and then distributing articles, including a housing for receiving closed shipping containers for storage, and for distributing articles retrieved from inside the shipping containers to an output of the housing. The housing further including entry means for controlling entry into the housing of closed shipping containers. In some examples, a method may include identifying item characteristics associated with an item, determining a frequency based on at least an item characteristic in association with a subset of subscriber accounts, generating data representing a frequency and a subset of the item characteristics to integrate with a web page generated for a merchant computing system, and transmitting the formatted data to a user interface to display a display portion based on the formatted data as an integrated portion of an integrated web page including the web page.

A computer-implemented method for scheduling processing of an order for goods at a provider location obtains an arrival estimate for when a user associated with the order is expected to arrive at the provider location and uses the arrival estimate to schedule processing of the order. Processing may be scheduled so that completion of order processing is expected to substantially coincide with arrival of the user at the provider location. The method may also obtain an order completion estimate for when processing of the order is expected to be completed and use both the arrival estimate and the order completion estimate to schedule processing of the order. The method may update one or both of the arrival estimate and the order completion estimate. The method may be executed by a networked mobile wireless telecommunication computing device of the user, or by a data processing system associated with the provider.

A commerce system includes an EC server connecting to a user terminal and executes E-commerce, a customs clearance authentication server that administers pre-customs clearance information, and an administration server connected to the customs clearance authentication server and the EC server. The administration server receives a registration request including product information regarding a product, transmits the registration request to the customs clearance authentication server, receives pre-customs clearance information regarding the product from the customs clearance authentication server, and notifies the pre-customs clearance information to the EC server. The customs clearance authentication server generates pre-customs clearance information based on product information, in response to a request from the EC server, and transmits generated pre-customs clearance information to the administration server. The EC server transmits the received pre-customs clearance information along with product information to the user terminal, and accepts, from the user terminal, an instruction to circulate the product specified via customs.

Systems, computer programs, and methods for coordinating automated components and employee activities to facilitate fulfillment of orders for items and/or services sold by retailers and made available for delivery or pick-up at a retail location are provided. In some embodiments, the methods comprise: receiving an order; selecting a preferred source location for each retail item in the order; preparing a first portion of the order at a fulfillment center; preparing a second portion of the order at a first store; preparing a third portion of the order at a second store; combining the first and second order portions and loading the combined order portions onto a transportation vehicle for transfer to the second store; and assembling the order including the first, second, and third order portions at the second store.
