Methods and systems for a dynamic support mattress to treat and reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers

Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for preventing and treating pressure ulcers in bedfast patients. The invention includes providing a non-powered mattress having a first zone adapted to conform to a first body part and a second zone adapted to provide support to a second body part, and off-loading interface pressure on the first body part to the second body part by dynamically increasing the support provided to the second body part by the second zone based on a weight of the first body part on the first zone. The off-loading of interface pressure from the first body part to the second body part equalizes blood oxygen saturation in tissue of the first and second body parts. Numerous additional aspects are disclosed.

Post-surgical support member for surgical site
10548790 · 2020-02-04 ·

A post-surgical support member is configured to be placed a post-surgically between a supine patient and a support surface so as to isolate an anatomical load from a post-surgical wound against the support surface, the anatomical load produced by the weight of the supine patient.

BUTTOCK SUPPORT FOR AT LEAST PARTIAL LOAD-RELIEF OF THE BODY WEIGHT OF A PERSON, AND LOAD-RELIEF SYSTEM COMPRISING SUCH A BUTTOCK SUPPORT

Disclosed is a buttock support for at least partial load-relief of the body weight of a person, the buttock support having two support regions adapted to receive at least part of a buttock region of the person. Also disclosed is a load-relief system having the aforementioned buttock support. The two support regions are separated from one another by a gap and are rounded. The gap separates the two support regions from one another centrally. The buttock support significantly simplifies the connection of a person to the aforementioned load-relief system to prepare for manual and/or automated physical therapy and also ensures that the thigh region, in particular the inner face of the thigh, and the groin region are accessible for further medical/therapeutic treatment by the medical staff.

Dynamic Load-Absorbing Materials and Articles

A double-shell helmet is disclosed. The double-shell helmet includes an outer shell, an impact absorbing material layer affixed to the outer shell on a first side of the impact absorbing material layer, an inner shell affixed to the impact absorbing material layer on a second side of the impact absorbing material layer opposite the first side of the impact absorbing material layer, and a foam layer affixed to the inner shell.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVED PHYSICAL REHABILITATION OF PATIENTS WITH IMPAIRED MOBILITY
20190358106 · 2019-11-28 ·

The present disclosure provides apparatus and method for improving rehabilitation of patients with limited mobility. The apparatus comprises a foam block, with a plurality of foam support pylons thereon, creating a nearly planar top cut according to the support pylons. The foam support pylons have the desirable effect of mitigating pressure and blood pooling at undesirable sites on the patient's body. The method comprises creating such a foam block and placing it under the patient's body in the patient's bed. The support pylons may have sensors or be capable of receiving changes to their physical structure to further facilitate rehabilitation. This can be achieved using electrical wires running through trenches between the support pylons.

Patient support formed from an elastomeric composition including a polymer blend of seeps copolymers

This disclosure provides a person support formed from an elastomeric composition. The elastomeric composition includes a polymer blend with the polymer blend consisting essentially of a first and second SEEPS copolymer. The first and second SEEPS copolymers are present in the polymer blend in an amount of from 75 to 95 percent by weight and 5 to 25 percent by weight, respectively, based on the total weight of the polymer blend. In addition, the sum of the first and second SEEPS copolymers in the polymer blend is 100 percent by weight. The first and second SEEPS copolymers have a weight average molecular weight of weight of at least 200,000 and 125,000 to 175,000, respectively. The disclosure also provides a patient support for supporting a patient with the patient support formed from the elastomeric composition.

CUSTOMIZABLE PRESSURE OFFLOADING CUSHIONING DEVICE

The subject invention is a device intended for use where support or restriction of motion of a body part is desired. The subject of the present invention is the formation of a network of lattice intrusions into the matrix of the device so that elements of the lattice can be removed to form a depression in the matrix of the device that conforms to the anatomy of the region that is being supported and positioned while offloading pressure.

MAT

A mat that enables promotion of respiration in a supine position. The mat includes a back support part. The back support part includes: a spine support part that continuously supports three or more continuous lumbar vertebrae and thoracic vertebrae and including a first lumbar vertebra to a twelfth thoracic vertebra of the spine in the back of a person in a supine position; and a pair of serratus posterior inferior muscle corresponding parts which are respectively disposed on widthwise both sides of the spine support part and below a portion conforming to a pair of left and right serratus posterior inferior muscles of the person in the supine position. The pair of serratus posterior inferior muscle corresponding parts and the spine support part are configured such that a body pressure from the serratus posterior inferior muscle corresponding parts is lower than a body pressure from the spine support part.

MATTRESS ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF USE

A mattress for use during recovery from buttock surgery includes a first wall and opposed second wall, a peripheral wall, and an interior wall extending between the first wall and second wall, with the interior wall being spaced inwardly from the peripheral wall. A bore bounded and defined by the interior wall has a first opening defined in the first wall and a second opening defined in the second wall. The first opening is of a first dimension and the second opening is of a different second dimension. In particular, the first opening is larger than the second opening. A cup holder is provided in each of the first wall and the second wall. A first pocket is provided on a first side of the mattress and a second pocket is provided on a second side of the mattress. The first pocket is inverted relative to the second pocket.
