METHOD FOR MONITORING OCCUPANCY IN A WORK AREA
One variation of a method for monitoring occupancy in a work area includes, at a sensor block: transitioning from an inactive state into an active state when an output of a motion sensor indicates motion in a work area; during a scan cycle in the active state, recording an image through an optical sensor at a time, detecting a set of humans in the image, detecting a second set of human effects in the image, predicting a second set of humans occupying but absent the work area based on the second set of human effects, and estimating a total occupancy in the work area at the time based on the set of humans and the second set of humans; and transmitting the total occupancy to a remote computer system for update of a scheduler for the work area.

System, method and computer program for guided image capturing of a meal
A system including circuitry configured to process image data of a meal to obtain information on the contents of the meal; generate, based on the obtained information, a query with guidance to change image capture settings: and guide a user to pick up at least a part of the meal.

Systems and methods for identifying and authenticating artistic works
Disclosed are systems, devices and methods for quantifying unique features of an object such as an artistic work to identify and authenticate the object and specific characteristics thereof using multi-spectral diagnostic characterization techniques and analytical algorithms. In some aspects, a method for creating an identification for an object includes acquiring image data of an object in two or more electromagnetic spectrums along a coordinated array of sample regions of the object; analyzing the acquired image data to produce a quantitative data set including specific characteristics of the object associated with the two or more electromagnetic spectrums for each sample region; generating a digital identification associated with a unique data fingerprint, based on the specific characteristics, in which the digital identification solely corresponds to the object; and storing the generated digital identification.

SPECULAR SURFACE MAPPING
Methods and apparatus for specular surface mapping in which a camera detects reflections of a light source from a specular surface. The detected light sources may be projected onto a celestial sphere as virtual point sources. True positive observations should be tightly clustered on the celestial sphere; thus, false positives may be identified and removed. Specular surface information may then be determined from clusters of the virtual point sources on the celestial sphere. The clusters of virtual point sources on the celestial sphere may be identified and used to identify a surface as a specular surface. The clusters may also be used to extract other information regarding the specular surface, including but not limited to distance to and extent of the specular surface.
IMAGE ALIGNMENT WITH SELECTIVE LOCAL REFINEMENT RESOLUTION
This application is directed to image registration. A computer system aligns two images of a scene globally to generate a third image and a fourth image that correspond to the two images and are aligned with each other. The computer system divides each of the third and fourth images to multiple grid cells including a respective first grid cell. The respective first grid cells of the third and fourth images are aligned with each other. For the respective first grid cells, the computer system identifies one or more first feature points, divides each respective first grid cell to a set of sub-cells and updating the first feature points in accordance with a determination that a grid ghosting level is greater than a grid ghosting threshold, and aligns the third and fourth images based on the updated first feature points of the respective first grid cells.
Portable projection mapping device and projection mapping system
A device may provide, to a camera and a projector of a portable projection mapping device, first instructions for calibrating the camera and the projector, and may receive, based on the first instructions, calibration parameters for the camera and the projector. The device may calculate a stereo calibration between the camera and the projector based on the calibration parameters, and may provide, to the camera, second instructions for recognizing a reference instrument associated with the portable projection mapping device. The device may receive, based on the second instructions, binocular images, and may determine additional parameters based on the binocular images. The device may determine recognition parameters for recognizing the reference instrument, based on the binocular images and the additional parameters. The device may process the recognition parameters and the stereo calibration, with an optical tracking model, to generate and provide overlay visualization data to the portable projection mapping device.
