Systems and methods are provided for contouring a set of medical images. Deformation field data is generated between a source image and a target image of the set of medical images. The deformation field data relates structures in the source image to corresponding structures in the target image and is generated in accordance with a deformable registration algorithm. The deformation field data is utilized to generate target contour data associated with the target image from source contour data, associated with the source image, that identifies one or more objects within the source image.

MEDICAL-IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, ULTRASONIC DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS, AND MEDICAL-IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

A medical-image processing apparatus according to an embodiment includes processing circuitry. The processing circuit acquires an initial value of an outline corresponding vector that corresponds to an outline of a subject included in medical image data. The processing circuitry updates the outline corresponding vector based on a derivative that is acquired by differentiating a cost function with respect to the outline corresponding vector by the outline corresponding vector, and on the initial value of the outline corresponding vector.

Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of determining one or more position and/or orientation parameters of an anatomical structure of a body portion. The anatomical structure has a longitudinal shape defining a longitudinal axis. The method includes generating and/or reading, by a data processing system, volumetric data of at least a portion of a subject. The method further includes generating and/or reading, by the data processing system, a deformable template which provides an estimate for a location of the longitudinal axis in the portion of the subject. The method further includes matching, by the data processing system, the deformable template to the volumetric data, thereby obtaining a matched template. The matching comprises using one or more internal energy functions and one or more external energy functions for optimizing an objective function. The method further includes determining, by the data processing system, the at least one position and/or orientation parameter based on the matched template.

Systems and methods for persona identification using combined probability maps

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for persona identification using combined probability maps. An embodiment takes the form of a method that includes obtaining at least one frame of pixel data; processing the at least one frame of pixel data to generate a hair-identification probability map; and generating a persona image by extracting pixels from the at least one frame of pixel data based at least in part on the generated hair-identification probability map.

Evaluation system or determination of cardiovascular function parameters

An evaluation system for determination of cardiovascular function parameters is provided. The evaluation system includes a data reading module, an image generating module, a contour determination module, an active contour module, a geometric center axis computing module, a view angle selection module and a function evaluation module. After reading cardiovascular graphic files with the data reading module, the image generating module displays 2D images or a 3D image constructed from the 2D images. Then, active contours are generated by the contour determination module and the active contour module, so as for the geometric center axis computing module to calculate geometric center axes. The view angle selection module then rotates the 3D image according to the view angle data received and modifies the 2D image files accordingly to generate plural cross-section images of the 3D image. Finally, the function evaluation module calculates evaluation parameters according to the geometric center axes. Thus, evaluation parameters can be derived from cardiovascular ultrasound images for clinical diagnosis in the evaluation of cardiovascular functions.

POINT CLOUD ANALYSIS DEVICE, ESTIMATION DEVICE, POINT CLOUD ANALYSIS METHOD, AND PROGRAM

It is possible to estimate a slack level accurately in consideration of a shape of a deformed cable. A point cloud analysis device sets a plurality of regions of interest obtained by window-searching a wire model including a quadratic curve model representing a cable obtained from a point cloud consisting of three-dimensional points on an object, the region of interest being divided into a first region and a second region. The point cloud analysis device compares information on the first region with information on the second region based on the point cloud included in the region of interest and the quadratic curve model for each of the plurality of regions of interest, calculates a degree of division boundary representing a degree to which a division position between the first region and the second region of the plurality of regions of interest is a branch point of the cable, and detects a division boundary point that is a branch point of a cable represented by the quadratic curve model based on the degree of division boundary calculated for each of the plurality of regions of interest.
