Climate-Controlled Topper Member for Beds
According to certain arrangements, a conditioner mat for use with a bed assembly includes an upper layer comprising a plurality of openings, a lower layer being substantially fluid impermeable, at least one interior chamber defined by the upper layer and the lower layer and a spacer material positioned within the interior chamber. In one embodiment, the spacer material is configured to maintain a shape of the interior chamber and to help with the passage of fluids within a portion of interior chamber. The conditioner mat can be configured to releasably secure to a top of a bed assembly.
AUTOMATED BED AND METHOD OF OPERATION AND THEREOF
A bed includes an electronic controller comprising a first interface to monitor at least one sensor and a second interface to control at least one actuator; and an adjustable surface configured to be at least partially adjusted by the at least one actuator. The at least one sensor is configured, at least during some time intervals, to detect a momentary application of force by a bed occupant to at least one location on the adjustable surface; and the electronic controller interprets a defined sequence of momentary applications of force to the at least one location on the adjustable surface as one of a set of defined coded commands from the bed occupant, the set of defined coded commands each indicating the bed occupant desires one of a set of defined actions by the electronic controller.
Disposable absorbent lift device
The present invention relates to a disposable absorbent pad comprising multiple layers. In particular, the absorbent pad of the present invention maintains skin dryness by absorbing moisture while preventing leakage to the skin or the bed linens, allowing air circulation at the surface of the patient's skin to prevent heat buildup, and is strong enough to allow the patient to be repositioned, even when the pad is wet. In a particular embodiment the first layer is comprised of a fluid-permeable, porous material, the second layer is disposed under the first layer and is comprised of at least one super absorbent material, and a base layer disposed under the second layer.
Method and apparatus for setting or modifying programmable parameter in power driven wheelchair
A method and apparatus for setting or modifying a programmable operating parameter associated with a power driven wheelchair is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes: a) operating a user interface device associated with a power driven wheelchair in a programming mode, b) selecting a programmable operating parameter associated with operation of the power driven wheelchair using the user interface device, c) selecting a value for the programmable operating parameter using the user interface device, and d) saving the selected value for the programmable operating parameter in a portion of a storage device associated with the power driven wheelchair using the user interface device. A method and apparatus for selecting one or more programmable parameter sets from a portable storage medium and saving the selected sets to a local storage device associated with a power driven wheelchair and vice versa is also provided.
Distribution pad for a temperature control system
An air distribution pad comprises an upper layer, a lower layer, and a spacer material located between the upper layer and the lower layer, the spacer material configured to allow air to pass therethrough. An air distributor is configured to distribute air to the spacer material, wherein the air distributor comprises a port configured to receive an air hose, wherein the port is directed laterally sideways from the air distributor. At least one joining structure is coupled to the upper layer and the lower layer, the at least one joining structure providing one or more channels formed through the spacer material in fluid communication with the air distributor. The one or more channels are configured to direct generally laterally flowing air from the port of the air distributor to a generally longitudinal direction along the at least one channel.

AMBIENT BED HAVING A HEAT RECLAIM SYSTEM
A bedding system is provided that includes a fan box layer having a plurality of ducts, each of the ducts being in communication with a fan configured to move air out of the duct and into an area surrounding the bedding system. A capacitor layer is positioned above the fan box layer. The capacitor layer includes a plurality of outlet ports, each of the outlet ports being in communication with one of the ducts. A mattress layer is positioned above the capacitor layer. The mattress layer includes a bottom portion having a plurality of first holes that are each in communication with at least one of the outlet ports and a top portion having a plurality of second holes that are each in communication with one of the first holes. The top portion defines a sleep surface.
INFLATABLE AIR MATTRESS
The inflatable air mattress of the present invention comprises: a plurality of supporting air cells, a plurality of heat dissipating air cells and an inflating device. The supporting air cells are arranged in parallel to form a supporting mattress surface. The heat dissipating air cell is connected to one side of the supporting air cell. The heat dissipating air cell is provided with a plurality of air holes. The inflating device is capable of inflating the heat dissipating air cells and the supporting air cells with gas. The gas will be discharged from the air holes to form a heat dissipating airflow toward the support mattress surface. The present invention creates airflow through separately spaced heat dissipating air cells de, so that the air cells are not pressed by the patient, improving the lack of easily obstructed in airflow supply in the conventional mattress.
Decubitus ulcer healing airflow device
A decubitus ulcer healing airflow device includes a motorized airflow intake fan disposed within a housing body devised to be attached to a bed rail A tubular airflow outlet is attached to a rear side of the housing body. An air filter slideably engages an access slot and is disposed between a protective grill and an airflow intake fan. At least one strap has a central elastomeric central section engageable onto the bed rail and a pair of u-shaped outer ends. Each strap engages a respective one of a pair of strap support holders disposed on each or one of a top and bottom side of the housing body. A slotted compartment, within the airflow outlet, contains a fragrance or a vaporized medicine to assist in healing the ulcers.
